***Official*** English Domestic Season 2007

Pup Clarke

Cricketer Of The Year
Brings back memories of players I had completely forgotten like Tim Roberts, Jeffrey Cook, Toby Bailey and David Leatherdale.

It's to stop their rivals getting a 3rd bowling point, along with wanting to get the conditions for themselves instead of fiddle around for half an hour with the tailenders while it gets easier to bat on.

That's my guess anyway.
Well seeing as Middlesex are 60 for no loss, I think they've shot themselves in the foot.

I've always thought bonus points should be scapped and replaced with points for wins, draws and first innings lead. And this is not the first case this season - in fact Somerset might have got the idea from this match earlier in the season where they were the victims:

Didn't the ECB let David Sales off with that one? I suggest they start doing something or else we could get a spate of these making the CC a farce. The one in 2003 was the last game of the season and it ensured Wotrcs would win the Division 2 title (and the extra prize money) but to have these declarations before the end of May....PS - for a minute I thought we were back to uncovered pitchies (didn't that stuff happen then so that the other team would bat on the pitch when it was rain affected?

On the bright side, Middx have crashed to 169 for six and have Murtagh batting at eight. Somerset could be batting again before the day is over...

We had a game like that a few years ago, declared at 7/80 after being 3/65 when play began that day. Took a few early wickets, but they got there 5 down. Made the game into an outright affair, which we lost.

Jacques Rudolph innings for Yorkshire today at Derbyshire pretty much summed up why he was discarded by South Africa from ODI cricket. He started out very well, looked excellent against Derbyshire's heavily depleted ‘pace’ attack but once the field restrictions had ended and the spinner came on, Rudolph went to pot - come the end he was struggling to time the ball of the square and his dismissal was very poor from a Yorkshire perspective.

Although, credit to him and White for giving Yorkshire a platform.

Surrey are looking down the barrel at Whitgift School. Poor performance from the top order once more whilst the bowling is up to it's usual standards and to think I read in the Daily Mail this morning that Rikki Clarke should get Flintoff's test place.

The track at Whitgift School has been utterly flat for a few seasons now, hasn't it? How on earth did they crash to 166?

Typical, i was really looking forward to seeing Rashid play for Yorkshire today for the first time. Then they go and not pick him! :@

My parents get the Daily Mail, I've only ever read it when I'm bored senseless in a waiting room and so look at the sport section (the Scrabble puzzles take about 10 seconds for the lot). If it's the guy that always does it he's atrocious even by the pathetic standards of journalists.

Yeah it's usually a road and considering the Surrey bowlers have got hardly anything out of it you can't use the rain excuse of the past fortnight. It’s merely poor bowling from Surrey and poor batting. Although, credit to Kent they bowled the rights lengths for this wicket.

Pretty horrific couple of days for Somerset - Middlesex have got themselves a lead of over 200 and already ripped out Edwards and Trescothick...

Haha, loving the commentator at the Surrey v Kent game, talking about how disappointed he is that he forgot his shotgun to deal with a spectator shouting fairly moronically at the players

Kent taking Surrey to the cleaners now - doesn't seem to be any sign of them playing for the close. Stevens is going along at better than a run a ball.

Essex doing alright, need a decent batting performance. Here's hoping that RTD scores some.
