Windies running on fumes here. Look totally gone. I sometimes think too much is made of body language, but their's is all passive just now.

& it looks like the fielders are taking the light. Poor show IMHO.

I would think the edge is taken off it somewhat, when every other member of the 11 also racks up three figures.
Nah. A century on test debut at Lord's would always be special. It is like the first time you have *** or your first pay cheque. Doesn't matter who the girl is or if the work you did was not very great.

Prior is pretty much 'damned if he does or damned if he doesn't' in terms of being a success.

Dire bowling maybe, but congratulations to him - this would be a moment he's dreamed for most of his life.

Prior looked in similar sort of touch to the way that Jones did against New Zealand and The Windies 3 years ago. There is no doubt though that he couldn't have picked a better time/opponent , to make his batting debut. 350/5 , with a pretty ordinary (putting it nicely) pace attack from the Windies.

Saying all that though , it was a very special innings , he was timing the ball well , and hitting at a run a ball is no mean feat at test level, even if it is the West Indies.

Bell played a typical Bell innings, and he looks really comfortable at 6. I'd like to see him at three , but If they want Vaughan there then what can we do about it. The dury is out for Vaughan on me , but as with Prior , could he pick any better side to get some runs against?

Todays developments will probably mean that Flintoff slots in at 8. Which probably isn't a bad thing , but can he handle the 1/3 of the pace duties ... who knows.

For a side whos just had such a horrible winter , the West Indies is proving a perfect opponent to get some much needed form and moral back. Not taking anything away from Peter Moores though.

Collingwood honestly put me to sleep last night. Good to see Matt Prior scoring a century on debut at Lords, a very special moment for him. Ian Bell continues to dominate at #6.

Thats an interesting one. I instinctively thought when I read that that no.8 is too low for Flintoff, but thinking about it, it could be a good position for him to bat at, for a while anyway. Maybe some of the pressure would be taken off him, and he might play like he did a couple of years ago (the 140odd vs SA springs to mind).

Freddie in at 8 would give England a very very deep batting line up. Long term I think Flintoff should be at 7

When was the last time 4 batsmen made 100 in a single inning ?
think the last time England did it was before WW2.

I reckon Pakistan or India might have done something similar in those run-fests between the two countries in the 80s

Im sure everything has already been said but..

Prior was brilliant today. Such a simplistic style. This is ball, this is bat. Bat hit ball. He had the almost perfect wagonwheel, with shots all around the ground.

Its an innings many England fans have been waiting for from a keeper for a long time. Maybe now we can forget about the Jones and Read rubbish.

Despite the relatively weak opposition, Ive not been so impressed with an innings as I was with this one for a long time.

I mean I have a lot of new found respect for a guy that scores a near run a ball hundred on debut at number 7 when not selected as a specialist batsman.

Incredible
