It does happen - Martin Saggers played for Norfolk for a while, before moving to Durham, where he wasn't the greatest. It wasn't until he arrived at Kent that he started consistently bowling well.
Oh, quite, and it was strange in the Saggers case, too.

And what do you mean by that?

By all reports, Onions was extremely impressive in the academy etc over the winter and has improved considerably in that time.
We hear that sort of thing very regularly - it's what happens on the field this season that counts.

Onions being picked for ODIs right now would be a symbol of exactly the same things that were going wrong with Duncan Fletcher in charge - and proof of what I've said all along that picking the wrong players for ODIs was not a trait unique to him, but just a general failing in the country.

Haha, shame I've already done the awards this week - deadset Inzy for next. :)
Meh, perfectly obvious. The pic Young posted, looks like something a goalkeeper in weird sports with sticks would wear.

Not that I understand why you need any kind of protection to play field hockey.

On topic: Gough 10-0-68-1

Yea, I think I remember him having 7 overs and an ER of 3 and a bit, his last 3 overs must have got crushed.

Well without a quote it wasn't truly obvious he was pertaining to Peter's post, TBH, given that it was 3 up from his.

I didn't have a clue - that was the point. I know precisely nothing about hockey in any shape or form.

I see Adil Rashid made a reasonable start to his one day career.. (Yes, I know he played in at least one Pro40 games last year, but I'm not counting that :p )

Shame the match (and most of the others) was rained off.

Just wondering what people think of the bonus points scoring system at the moment, with up to 5 available for batting and 3 for bowling. Considering that cricket is becoming more and more of a batsman's game and we have roads like Taunton and Chelmsford on the county circuit, I would rather see it revert to 4 points being available for each or - even better - 5 for bowling and 3 for batting.

You could have a point awarded everytime 2 wickets go down, so 2 wkts = 1 point, 4 wkts = 2 points etc, and with batting have 1 point for passing 200, 2 for passing 300 and 3 for passing 40.

What do you think?
What's the use of batting and bowling points anyway. I find the system horribly complex and useless. Cricket is just a game between 2 teams, the winner should take full points whatever the way victory was achieved. The only difference between cricket and, say, football is that there is always the possibility that the game will not be finished within the time frame : thus you must have a way to reward the team that was dominating before the game was stopped.

I think all these goals are achieved in the Pura Cup point system. 6 pts for a win, 2 pts for 1st innings lead ====> simple, and efficient. Why not implement something similar in county cricket

Bonus-points are a valid excercise, I feel. And while some take it too far (Sri Lanka, South Africa) I feel the Championship is still just about acceptible.

I'd also prefer to see it equally weighted between batsman and bowler, though.

Good to see Worcs putting up some fight, but their feeble batting lineup should be torn apart by Anderson, Mahmood ( ), Chapple, Cork and Murali. Mind you, Hodge aside, Lancs look a bit fragile.

Did anyone else here the sky sports guys saying how Rashid is now the 2nd best spinner in the country? and if Panesar gets injured he will be called up to play TEST CRICKET. After just one season.
