It has external recognition. Just not by all countries. England does not have external recognition at all.

No it isn't, actually. All those countries still have state sovereignty. England does not.

Oh they do, but they don't actually have power of it.

I don't see why I'm arguing the matter really - I've pointed out an excellent source. that proves my point already.
I guess so it's a country but I'll go by wikipedia since I never saw that other site but I get it so no need for more debating.

A question for you richard, have you ever seen the episode of south park called "smug alert", because that's the kind of image i'm getting of you right now, smelling your own farts and talking with your eyes closed. You seem to be a stereotypical pompous asshole, who believes that he know's everything. OF COURSE THAT WOULDN'T BE BETTER!!! That would get the **** kicked out of you because you're insulting the country, and saying how "the irish are one of us" would also get the **** kicked out of you because for 300 years Britain occupied Ireland, where the Brittish owned all the land and the irish were the poor peasants who were never allowed to own land, and alot of Irish people bear a grudge against English people, and that's mainly because of people like you. The smart thing would be to just put up and shut up
Damn straight.
I get **** all the time for being english over here because bastards constantly think it's still the 60's and can slate the irish and have the law protect them.
You pompous prick.
Ever heard of F*ck*ng being patriotic?
Why do people put up with you?
Hahahahahaha. You people clearly have precisely 0 clue about me and are evidently extremely poor at interpreting the meaning of my posts.

really cause that's how most people interpret your posts, but what did you mean in your posts than?

It's not how most people interpret them - in any case, those 2 are the only 2 who ever said the sorts of things they said to me.

Oh no i'm not talking about what they said, which was harsh but like what you keep on saying about Ireland being part of England.

The way some people paint it all Irish are bigots and anti-English nutcases, and I don't really like it, TBH. I know a good few Irish lads and there's absolutely no more of a rivalry than that between those of Yorkshire and Lancashire.
Only noticed this post now.
It's generally the older people, and people in out the country who have a hate for the english, Generally the thick ones.

But you and your friend completely misinterpreted what I was actually saying. Never once have I said Ireland is part of England or that Irish people are subsidaries of the English, for instance - just that the Irish and English are not constant mutual haters.

I did say, however, that there is no cricketing divide between Ireland and England. 'Cos there never has been.

I think since Ireland had success at the World Cup it has suddenly become a more prominent issue, because now its not just a time tucked away in the corner only in the publics eye when it gets trounced in the world cup every now and then.

Ireland stood up in the world cup and a lot of the Irish seem to be standing up for a line between Irish and English cricket teams. There will always be a player or two who swaps countries, but a lot of players from other countries (like NZ or Aus) could also play for the English team if they chose to.

There was no cricketing divide between Ireland and England, but now that the Irish have done something noteworthy maybe there should be.

Thing is, Ireland have done noteworthy things before, and things which bolstered the interest in cricket over there.
