Jayasuriya getting pounded by Symonds, this one is all-over rover.

Pity SL didn't play the majority of their main strike attack.

I think it is bang out of order to be honest. If I was at the ground I would be livid

Now that is how you finish a game of cricket. Australia win and should take top spot for the Semis.

Not much of a game - Oz would be favourites to beat that SL side 10 times out of 10.

Got to wonder about the logic

Was it to:

a. avoid Oz in a semi - makes no sense as they may have to play them in a final on a faster bouncier track anyway

b. avoid SA

c. avoid one of the grounds

d. hope SA or Eng beat Oz for them

Anyway, whole thing could go **** up depending on results in final pool matches anyway

Well I hope it blows up in their face, any chance of them lossing to Ireland and qualifying 4th?

I lost a lot of respect for Sri Lanka today. Pathetic team selection.
I actually thought it was quite smart. I think the reason they left Vaas and Murali out is because they have considered the possibility that they might meet Australia again later in the competition, and because they didn't want them to get any experience of playing them on these wickets ahead of a possible confrontation in the final.

Well, partly that, and partly that they're both old and need a rest. :p

That is why I have lost respect for them. They should go out and try and win every game, regardless of how a loss would actually benefit you.

Why bother turning up in the first place!

Terrible imo.

Australia has played Vaas and Murali many, many times

Unless they've suddenly developed mystery balls, Oz will know exactly what they are going to get from them and the only question is whether they're good enough to combat it.

I'm not saying they don't already have experience of them. It's been a while since Australia played SL, and they're not going to be able to predict how they'll bowl on these wickets is all. Plus, like I say, Murali and Vaas aren't getting any younger. They needed a rest.

Maybe, and tbh, I think the same.
However, this match really had no significance in itself, being virtually a dead rubber.

So, I can kind of see their thinking, but, sadly I still dont agree with it.

(Also, dont like the overconfidence it speaks of concerning their coming clash with NZ in the semi-finals. A game, I think, they are more likely to lose)
