What is with this defeatist mentality amonst English sports fans?

So tell me why then, if they so utterly hopeless why should they bother turning up?
It's difficult to understand if you're not from a country that has no reason to fail in international competition, yet somehow consistently manages to do so no matter what the circumstances. :p

Nah, I think British people are just used to softening themselves up for defeat, TBH. So many years without winning anything has left people afraid to get their hopes up.

Plus, there's no denying we've been dire so far. :dry:

Still makes absolutely no sense.

Double=times 2

3x2=6
or
(1+1+1)x2=6

since when did (1+1+1+1)=(1+1+1)x2

Maths explains everything young chap, and today, it has proven you wrong. :p
Wow, he's smart figuring out those equations.

Yes, conventionally, but this is semantics!

Does a double cheeseburger mean that you get two whole cheeseburgers? No -- you just get two lots of the actual meaty bit, but still with one bun.

I know that's a rubbish analogy, but I'm hungry right now!

As Andy said, it's called a double hattrick as there are two individual hattricks in there, even if they are mixed together.

OK, let me figure out what your trying to say.

  • The first wicket is the bottom bun.

  • The middle wicket is the 'meaty bit'.

  • The last wicket is the top bun.

Therefore for a double hattrick, all you need is an extra 'meaty bit'. Hence a double hattrick being 4 wickets in 4 balls.

Damn, I wasted all these years at university when I couldve just gone to McDonalds. :mellow:

The ICC doesn't give permanent ODI status anymore which is a good thing, because there's a check every 4 years and then you go on. Kenya will lose theirs too in 2009 unless they qualify for the wc or get test status. Todays win promoted Ireland to the main table but if they don't qualify for the wc then they'll lose it. But I'm sure they will.

As has been argued before, it isn't a good thing. Kenya are a bit of an exception, so think of someone like Scotland. How is a country like Scotland supposed to properly plan for the future when in a couple of years their funding, status etc. could just stop instantly?

Zimbabwe had their Test status suspended, that's the sort of exceptional circumstances that should stop 'permanent' ODI status from being permanent. Not some pre-WC qualification tournament when all sorts of things could happen.

But 2 cheeseburgers aren't mixed together in a double cheseburger, the burgers are actually separate entities...

The two cheeseburgers just share certain parts - those being the buns. Much like how the two hat-tricks share the second and third balls of the wicket succession.
