I typically miss the first 5-10 overs of the second innings every match after I fall asleep in the innings break. Given watching Hayden bat almost puts me to sleep - especially when he's actually in form - it's probably best for my viewing if Australia bat second.

FFS. I can understand why they did it, but it's disappointing.

Rest the players that is, not bat first.

Pitch report:
Last time we had a game on this surface, there were overcast conditions. Today its even, with just a couple rough areas, no cracks or flakes. Basically, no worries for the batsmen. Should assist the spinners as the day progresses.

Seems that Jaya will score lots of runs provided he stays at the wicket and dont lose his temper in the first 5-6 overs..which might seam with the new ball..Once the initial phase is gone...Its gonna be batting day...I surely think its gonna be SRL day, even without their guns//.// Go SRILANKA

With this sort of an attitude i won't be suprised if New Zealand beat the hell out Sri lanka in the Semi-final.

This is just dire.

Caught in three minds here. I want Australia to win, because I'm Australian. I want Kalusekera to do well, because I think he's better than Maharoof and Fernando. And lastly but certainly not leastly, I want Sri Lanka to pay the price for resting players so direly. So for all that to go to plan, Bandara has to get absolutely belted for about 10 per over.

Big decision to rest Muralitharan and Vaas, Sri Lanka obviously aren't too concerned with who they are going to be playing in the semi-final. Now that Jayawardene won the toss and elected to bat, I'm not looking forward to this game quite as much. Will be hoping that Jayasuriya turns it on and Tharanga is able to make a decent score.

You were looking forward and interested in yesterday's match and its interesting you say that this match is not making u interested...Needs thinking abt u..

Well, yesterday's match promised an even contest. This one no longer does really - well, not as much anyway. Now that I've said that though, it'll go down to the last ball or something and I'll get the Greigy. :p

I think Sri lanka already thought that they would lose today even with Murali,Vass and Malinga (as he is 90% fit and could have played if they wanted to play him), so they took the easy-way-out of this situation so that even if they lose they can always make an excuse and say that they had a 2nd string bowling line-up.

Pathetic attitude from Sri lanka!! Booooo.... Boooo...

I still bet that SRL will win today...I bet 100% that SRL has got the players who can win the matches. Believe its their day ...After the day, you will come saying Raghav is correct..Wait and see..

Not really. They want the key players to rest and doesnt want them to get injured before the all important semis...

Jayawardene is right!

Very good decision from 2 perspectives..

a) Lanka would prefer to play New Zealand or England rather than RSA in the semis I would think.
b) They do not expose Vaas and Murali to the Aussies which might prove useful if/when they play the Aussies in the finals.

You think he's better than Roofers? Kulasekara has looked pretty ordinary to me, certainly not as consistent as Maharoof or threatening as Fernando from the limited times I have seen him bowl.

I love watching Bangladesh play, and the game yesterday promised to be much more even than this. Seeing as how I will have crashed by the time Australia's turn to bat comes around and I will probably sleep through Gilchrist's innings then it takes a bit of a shine off it for me.

Pratyush, Vass and Murali are no spring-chickens and Aussies have played against them millions of times, so i really can't understand what you are talking about mate.
