can we get 6 300+ games in a row?

ahh another long night again.... and yea i agree with the thread 'so tired' lol ..

could be a dangerous chase coz the pitch is really flat

West Indies v/s Australia

The conditions are overcast in Antigua so not suprised to see Lara electing to field, and West Indies always seem prefer to chase IMO.

The pitch is an unknown quantity since its the first international game being played on this ground.

Really? I'd back Australia to chase any total 9 times out of 10. For defending a total it'd be more like 7/10.
It really depends on the total. Australia's usually very good at restricing the opposition to a small score when bowling first, which results in a lot of 7-8 wicket wins, but when it comes to the actual chasing, anything over 250 is nervous stuff. Theoretically I'd back Australia to chase just about any score given the quality of the batting, but collapses seem to happen a lot more chasing. And I think people tend to forget all the games where Australia make 280 and win by 100+ runs, compared to some shocking efforts defending recently.

Statistically Australia are more or less exactly as good chasing as they are defending, and lose about the same amount of games each way. I just feel more comfortable setting a target.

"Incidentally, Andrew Miller, our man at the ground, informs me that its been drizzling all morning and the local weather men say the clouds are likely to linger. Watch this space for more..."

But the recent failures have coincided with a significantly different attack to most of those comprehensive wins. As such I think they take more prominence over past successes in consideration of present ability.

I hope Pup scores a 100 today, i mean 2 games in a row (Scotland and South African game) he has made it into the 90's and missed out on a century both times.

The two umpires from Pakistan, Aleem Dar and Asad Rauf, have taken their positions and the Australians are setting themselves up in the field. Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul, the West Indian openers, are striding out to the middle

Hahaha. That's quality. I like that they even named the openers, as "the West Indian openers" could have just been a brain fade typo.

Cautious start from the aussies and probably the right way to go in such conditions, very slow outfield i might add due to all the rain that has been around.
