That he scored a lot of his runs in small chases with a lot of not outs, but tended to leave it to the rest of the batting order when it really mattered.
Oh, come on, he may have done that last night but he's hardly got a reputation for doing it

But if white fails with the bat i think david hussey is the smartest choice to bat at no.7 he is in terrific form currently batting at 86 against the redbacks,it would be a treat to see both the hussey brothers bat for australia i believe though mike has proved his class at the top level i have always thought david is the guy with more natural talent than mike, but mike is much more tougher meantally thats how he keeps cool in tough situations.

The bells have started ringing for haydos the game on sunday will be very important for him.
You've got to be kidding me right?? So what if he has one or two bad innings. He showed great control against England, i seriously can not understand people giving him crap over his last innings. He did his job, Australia got to the target in 25 overs. I admittedely say that if he scored quicky it may well of been over quicker but the fact that he was not out at the end of the innings is pretty good.

I agree with you luffy but it's just a by-product of Australia doing so well that the expectation levels from their fans, i.e, Aussies on this thread, increase to ridiculous levels. They now expect every one of their top order to score run a ball 80s, Gilly-style, or they're not satisfied. Criticism of Hayden's sensible innings of a man who's timing is out trying to get some form back is part of that unrealistic expectation.

Fiery mate no one is saying mike hussey is a bad player or something like that but when you compare david and mike on natural talent like striking the ball and hand-eye cordination david is better, but on mental toughness mike is way ahead of david thats why mike has been able to use his talent in a much better way than david, but now david has also produced some consistent runs so he should be selected for no.7 given if white fails again.

I know you weren't saying Mike was a bad player puppy

David does have a great natural flow in his strokeplay. I find him better watch when he's on song than Mike, both are pretty devastating when on song.
Yet according to the selectors hes not in the top 30 one day players in the country

How hes not in the 30 man WC squad i'll neever know.

Wow, was Hayden at one-time ranked best ODI bat in the world? I missed that completely.

Anyhow, some extreme remarks aside, I pretty much agree with kwigibo and Clapo - seriously, given the crap opposition, it's a bit of an idictment to go on about Hayden getting some confidence or some form for the rest of the tourney.

The main thing to me is what's the idea behind him playing in these games? It's obviously (you would think) not prep-work for the World Cup, so I struggle to see the reasoning. Perhaps the selectors felt at the time that Jaques had run foul of form at just the wrong time (obviously he's just made a score now) but if you wanted someone to scratch around and find confidence and form why not throw him in against this dispirited opposition anyway? Or play somebody else in the middle order and slide Clarke up.

The only thing I can really think of is that they're determined to literally reserve a place for Watson, and they don't want to give somebody else false hope by selecting them, so Hayden's effectively one of those metal thingamejigs you put up to stop someone parking in your space on weekends.

Anyway, rotten effort from the Poms again, it goes without saying. Heard that the crowd booed all round the ground when it came out that Freddie won the toss and England were batting first. Says it all, really.

Conspiracy theories abound there Slow Love. I'm sure they have him mind for the WC and have put confidence in him to strike some form. You might be reading a bit too much into it there I think.

Look mate we have all seen hayden bat at odi level and he can easily maintain strike rate in high 80's by just playing normal cricket shots currently he is not doing that, and don't say he is bad form because in the test matches he was striking the ball beautifully its just mental block he has.If you guys are happy with way haydos is batting at the moment than what wrong did katich(i am no katich fan) but still the one criteria is needed.

I tend to agree with SL. If Watson didn't get injured, Hayden wouldn't have even been considered for the CB Series IMO, and he definitely wouldn't have gone to the World Cup.

Looking forward to him making a 4 off 18 tomorrow or whenever and seeing a Watson or Jaques recall.

You're obviously very passionate, pup, but try to use more punctuation mate. It's like trying to decipher my 13 yr old nieces text messages. Would make it easier for us all to read and understand buddy.

This innings by Boucher is turning into a wee beauty

I think clarkey is one of the best middle order odi batsman going around currently his running between the wickets and skill of building partnerships with roy and huss in the middle order are of real importance for the aussies so i won't tinker with that combination so close to the world cup.
