I'm not really confident of NZ beating Australia in the CB series. I think NZ might win the Chappell-Hadlee Series though, I can see us taking that series a lot more seriously than Australia and probably a number of Australian players being rested for those 3 games.
The Chappell-Hadlee Series is taken less seriously in Australia due to the fact we have the Ashes which is our main Competition

New Zealand can do it on their day.
If they can bowl tight like they have done on several occasions in matches against Australia they will be in with a chance if they can tie down Hayden and Gilchrist who will play a rash shot if there tied down and just bowl consistent line and length to the rest of the Australian batting lineup.

Bond is the key first up. He's more than capable of destroying the Aussie top order. After that, it's up to the allrounders to keep it tight and Vettori to take out that near-unstoppable middle order. It's a tough ask, so no wonder the Aussies are running away with it atm. But, NZ do have the firepower to pull it off.

Where's Kyle Mills btw? He was beyond excellent in the Champions Trophy. Top notch ODI bowling on a par with the likes of Bracken and Lee.

Had an injury that kept him out of the Sri Lanka series, played a couple of games for Auckland and has now joined the squad.

Not convinced about his match fitness though, his results for Auckland were well below what you'd expect from a fully-fit Kyle Mills.

Shane Bond sometimes reminds me of Brett Lee tbh just a bit more consistent. He is a bit slower than Lee but yes i agree NZ do have a chance.

The Chappell-Hadlee series will either see us:

1) get a hiding in the first game, come ridiculously close to winning the second (only to choke), then win the dead rubber.

or

2) win the first ODI by some miracle, lose the second in agonising fashion, waking Australia up in time to thrash us in the decider.

That's if it doesn't rain in the decider.

Nah, we'll be firing on all cylinders by then and absolutely kill them

It won't be a miracle. As i expressed in my post above Australia don't go into the Chappel-Hadlee trophy desperately wanting to win it. We will try but we will rest our main players for at least one game.

Shockingly bad from the English.

Why even bother sendind a team to the West Indies, they will surely get embarresed even worse then today.

Hayden would have fit like a glove, in the England team today.

Both were absolutely dire. It was actually terrible to watch.

What did Hayden do wrong?? If you are talking about his slow batting thats all he needed to do just get the runs there was no rush in getting the runs.

tbh, there should be no excuse for any specialist batsmen to finish not out in any ODI innings with a Strike Rate of just 45. If thats the way it's gonna be Bring back Katich, at least he had SR of 60.

C'mon mate, I'm not talking about just his run rate.

He hardly timed a ball out there today.

He was just treating it like a net. Give him a break. You won the game by a mile. What more do you want?

But whats the point in batting agreesive and getting a low score because they wanted to score fast for no apparent reason. We were always going to get the bonus point and he wanted a not out innings to help boost his confiedence. Also if he could get out early who knows what could happen, another batting collapse.

He got 30 not out off about 65 ballsdidn't he? That's bassically all that matters, runs are runs. Knowing Hayden he wouldn't be entirely happy about it but he did his job.
