Aussies have fielded a lighter bowling attack today s.clark bowls way too many boundary balls in odi cricket johnson has been ok in short stints but overall not really economical so far as for binga he has been fabulous today(so far) .we will miss bracken in the death overs, great to see hoggy getting a chance. After all this england still managed to loss two quick wickets wow i mean only england can do that right.
A finalist for this week's Greigy?

Unfortunately, it won't. You really hope the spectators give them some of the worst abuse imaginable, but they're probably still asleep.
i think there was some booing after the final english wicket fell, deservedly so imo

Maybe....just maybe...he is playing for the team rather than personal goals?

His innings so far today has done no harm to our chances of winning, has it?
TBF, that's what was being said about Katich, except Katich was actually scoring runs.

Personally, I would rather Watson do the opening again.

But from the crap I get in other forums, I gather Watson is not liked in here either?
Depends who you ask. Some people don't really like him, but I'm fairly sure Smith stalks the bloke. Big fan myself.

Yeah Watson's a bit of a polarising figure, or has been, because he was always selected on potential rather than performance, at least in ODIs. Until the last year or so, that is. I don't think anyone could possibly deny his value to the team at this point, and having him back will be a great boost if he's anything like he was pre-injury.

Regarding Hayden, he simply never should have been recalled. It was never going to be a particularly good decision, even if he did make some runs, and with him in shocking touch it looks even worse. Jaques, Watson or even Hopes as a short-term measure would be apt replacements, but I doubt Hayden will be dropped until the Chappell-Hadlee series, if at all.

Not much to say about England, so I'll just leave it there.

26th jan is republic day in india!

yeah guys really i was frustrated(on a holiday) to no end one of most pathetic odi game that i have seen in recent times, why don't england just forfeit games against australia like the canadians did the other day. As for 26 jan to mark the importance of the day(for both australia and india) gilly did request to CA in 2004 that a waugh-tendulkar odi series should be played every year but nothing really materialised after that.

Interesting that a guy gets MoM for giving up 45 of the opponent's 110 run total.
It was either Johnson or Lee. I agree with the Johnson call personally. His second spell included 3 wickets in 7 balls, all caught behind the wicket, and stopped England from recovering and scraping their way to 200. Lee was also very good, of course.

Yeah, I know. I don't exactly disagree, just wanted to point out that he was a teensy weensy bit expensive, relatively speaking.

Lee should never ever get a MoM again. I just heard his song. In fact, sell him to England and make them believe he's a legspinner.

That performance by England was ridiculous. It isn't doing the Australians any favour either in the run into the World Cup as when we play a competitive team we will lack the experience in close games as we are used to winning quite easy.

why is gough with 200 odd wickets the highest wicket taker for england in odi cricket history this pretty much shows how serious england have been about odi cricket over the years.I think they are ranked 8th in odi teams good chance that bangladesh might overtake them.

I think you'll find now that NZ are starting to get some of our injured players back we will provide you with plenty of competition and the odd loss in the lead-up to the World Cup

From what i have seen from NZ, they are a good team but like England don't take crucial moments in the match. Tbh i hope we lose a game as i think we are getting a bit ****y when we just keep winning.

I'm not really confident of NZ beating Australia in the CB series. I think NZ might win the Chappell-Hadlee Series though, I can see us taking that series a lot more seriously than Australia and probably a number of Australian players being rested for those 3 games.

New Zealand can do it on their day.
