International Coach
Fair point somewhere in that. :) Lee, McGrath, Bracken and Hogg should be the main for for mine, with a combination of Watson, Clarke and Symonds for the others.
Yep, I think the team is at its strongest with Lee down at number 9.

1. Gilchrist
2. Haddin
3. Ponting
4. Clarke
5. Symonds
6. Husssey (only if we're chasing - otherwise, number four).
7.Watson (no way is this guy an opener - and he can't displace Clarke or Symonds)
8. Hogg
9. Lee
10. Bracken
11. McGrath

Check out Haddin's stats this year - 327 runs, at an average of 80, with a strike rate over 100. An absolute gun. Mature player too.

When the team is struggling with the bat and performing with the ball the coach decides to call two all-rounders and a bowler into the squad. So now Oram will be brought in to replace Mason or Franklin (who are both bowling reasonably well) to sure up the batting - at number six or seven! Bravo Bracewell!!! Your understanding of the game is amazing. Unfortunately this is not the type of consistency I was looking for, you chimp.

Is there anyone in the forum that believes strengthening the middle to lower order is the answer to NZ's batting woes at the top? I realise we might get a few more runs from the lower order but the damage will certainly have been done before that happens. Yet another high percentage play from the men in charge.

So a week after thinking his career could possibly be over, Bond seems to be back in the 12. I'm not sure what to think about that.

It's great to have him playing, but surely he's come back a bit too soon.

Thing is though, as we've already mentioned, as good a batsmen as Haddin is, it's highly unlikely they're going to play he & gilly in the same team for the simple fact that they've always been keepers, and from memory neither have ever played as a specialist bat.

Thats a terrible interview. He should know his players inside out and be able to comment in general terms on their behalf. IT sounds like he hasnt talked to them for awhile. His terrible decisions should lead to his sacking after the world cup. I dont think he has any faith in his players or maybe he has too much faith in some of the poorer players. I still cant believe they are still selecting franklin after years of ordinariness in the shortened form as well as the Marshall twins. The preperation for the world cup was looking good a couple years back but it seems as if too many experimentations have been left to right near the beginning of the world cup and I sense a bit of panic within the team. You could also say that about other international teams at the moment as well.

His inverviews are ALWAYS like that.....

Atleast the rugby season is starting soon :D

:D Have much have you got on it Jono?
Bloody hell is it that obvious :shy:

Can't a guy just want NZ to win without having the old cheque book on it :p

I reckon NZ are good value at 1.66 so I thought I'd chuck a few on them. Also have a multi on NZ to win today and India to win tomorrow, but that's generally because multis are always good value.

I believe that a settled team and batting order in which each player clearly knows his role will solve our woes. I also believe that making fringe players fight and work hard for their Black Cap will benefit the team better in the long run than giving any and all Johnny-come-lately's a run just to see if they might be good.
