What is it with people typing 'hattrick'? The term is 'hat trick', or even 'hat-trick'. How can you post on a cricket site if you don't know that?
I think it would have to do with people's general English (in)ability than cricket knowledge.

I think I've seen this game before: Hayden and Gilchrist get off to a flyer... Vettori pins them back with some good bowling in the middle overs, and then Bichel/Bevan/White/ Hussey/Symonds/Lee/etc. smash it around at the end to win the game/set a good total.

Fleming looks like he could do with a bat. Goodness knows why he was rested for the early Sri Lankan ODI games; one would think everyone would be playing all games possible with the world cup so close. Great to see Taylor show his promise. Any news on his injury?

Franklin again shows his worth in the New Zealand squad :) Australia definately the dominant team in world cricket and I dont see them losing any games this season. I think New Zealand will probably be better than England but both our batting and some of our bowling looks very shaky. Even though Bond took a hattrik I believe he has lost a bit of venom.

In the short term. If an NZ player wants to be the best he wants to play at the highest level and whether that is in Australia, India or wherever that is the place to go. At present I don't think English County Cricket will see Kiwi players pushed as they need to be to excel.

Ummm, there's just the slight, teeny, tiny problem of the Australian domestic season clashing with the New Zealand season...

i dunno if im being too harsh but his fitness is a concern... happened when he batted long [hit a ton i think!] against SL on his debut i think ... not long ago..was dehydrated

And the fact Australia would rather get their up and coming players playing for state rather than some Kiwi's who want to improve their game...

Yeah, he was out there for ages. I think any player batting from near the start of an innings to past the 40th over *may* just get a bit run down.

And it wasn't his debut, either.

And the fact that County cricket is generally recognised as a pretty good place for young players to learn their cricket

OK.....

Drop Franklin, instead of leaking 70 in the first 10 you give away 50-55 (Bond will perform better with a supportive bowler in which he can develop a partnership with). Perhaps we can bring in Mason or open with Gillespie.

With a non-Franklin fast bowler we can finish bowling both the spinners earlier, therefore less of a risk in the last 10. If Vettori didn't bowl that horrendous no-ball 6 and if Bond didn't give away 22 runs in his second to last over we could have restricted Aussie to 75 off their last 10.

Australia all of a sudden have 250, and maybe less if Cameron White was given out PLUMB to Vettori.

Great innings from Taylor and Fleming looked good (the most annoying and dissapointing dismissal of the innings). Fulton was good to and he murdered that pull-shot of his. Chasing a smaller total the middle-order wouldn't have had to take those risks earlier on in their innings.

It's not the disaster that everyone is talking about...still pretty shocking that middle order collapse. But with Styris/Oram back into the team with Vetorri back down the order we will have a stronger middle order.

Well yes it is a case of either/or, unlike if you were to forge a dual career in NZ and England.

It's just not that even a spread of talent across Australia.
I have no knowledge of eligibility requirements re OS players but some states would happily seek an injection of foreign talent to make them more competitive in the domestic series (Sheffield Shield, currently called the Pura Cup after a milk producer).

 That's quite funny
I saw that in an AFL forum so copied it for future use. If I really wanted to be the spelling police I could go crazy, it's not as if spell-checkers are hard to use. But there must have been at least four references to today's "hattrick" or even "hattrik".

Why the hell did the kiwis play 5 batsmen and mcallum the keeper and 5 bowlers.Neither vettori or franklin is a no 7 is this a joke.
When nz last toured here last mccallum was at no 8 where he belongs.
