Still.. we should demolish england ^_^
I am not quite sure that will happen. England and New Zealand at least should have much closer games. For one, at least some of the Pom players have been in Australia for a while. For two, England are not that bad a one day side if we look at players on paper. Sure, they have been crap in recent times in the game but it may be because they were focussing much more on the Ashes regardless of whether that was the right approach.

The Australian one day team is superb but not many other one day teams are just that where international cricket is concerned. England do have some solid players with technical ability at least and if they give one day cricket more seriousness (which they are likely to given the world cup is coming), I think England will be able to at least compete in one day cricket.

Australia always keeps fighting which means that they can create dismissals like the Clarke run out and take a flurry of wickets if the other team lets up even a little over just a small time. So while teams may win sessions (like even England did during the recent Ashes), to win matches against Australia or at least have close matches, there have to be many good performances and teams have to keep on fighting each over, each session - not easy for cricket teams to do.

This match went from looking like an exciting down to the wire finish to all-over in like 3 overs.

Good stuff from the Aussies though and loving the good natured NZ fans here.

Oram would be for Patel IMO. He and Styris could fill in those overs. Vettori at 7 just isn't good enough in these sorts of situations.

White turns his wrong'un more than his leg break half the time. Odd bowler.

To be fair, Australia will be wanting to be challenged a bit leading into the World Cup, and it appears as though England and NZ are incapable of it currently.

Franklin again proves that he just isn't an ODI bowler; tell him to stick to Test cricket and it's about time, another young bowler like Gillespie is considered. I can't imagine what the Aussies would have done to the likes of Adams and Mason. The introduction of Gillespie and Patel should have made it clear that we should be trying new bowlers, rather than continuing with those who just aren't up to international cricket.

Australia must be worried about the 5th bowler slot though. Against a decent ODI team, playing White is just too risky IMO. He isn't going to come off with a 50 off 30 balls every time and is bowling is well club level rubbish.

Get Styris, Oram and Mills on the next plane. In for McMillan, Franklin and Patel
Oram, and Styris are apparently coming in for the 4th game that NZ plays. I heard that Mills is only bowling at half pace for Auckland and is not expected to be fit for the entire series.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
NZ did well in two parts of the game: Coming back from the Gilchrist/Hayden opening blitz and from being 2/10.

Then, after doing well reeling it back, threw their hard work away again.

NZ are easily one batsman short. McCullum needs to go down to 7 and Marshall brought in at the expense of Franklin. Styris, Oram and Mills still injured so McMillan and Marshall would have to play at 5/6. Fleming to open, Fulton at 4.

:( Hopefully we can have a much better showing against England. Losing 7-23 (IIRC) is unacceptable.
