***Official*** India in South Africa

Bad umpiring or not, South Africa have pretty outplayed India in the last 1.5 Tests (counting this one as practically over). Watching the teams you could tell who the better one is, even allowing for South Africa's first Test debacle.

Bad light has also already affected South Africa rather significantly. It almost cost them a deserved win in the 2nd Test.

Also, I think there's something to be said for Test finishing on cricketing terms - no due to the elements.
Makes sense. I still think the external factors would even out after this rain because the umpiring hurt India significantly more than the bad light hurt South Africa. Anyways, that doesn't really matter now. Let's see if we get any play today.

EDIT: Thanks for providing concrete reasoning (unlike certain others).

An hour is unlikely but give South Africa 25 overs and they'll knock it off.
Only 100 runs needed. Given that South Africa have 8 wickets intact, I'd count on them to knock off the runs in an hour if that's what it comes to. That's 12-15 overs. Definitely enough time with wickets in hand.

Ian Ward just said, play will kick off in little under 25 minutes. Good news, India still in with a chance if South Africa start chucking the bat which they are likely to do considering the ominous weather around.

Will make great viewing I reckon.

Still, SA to win by 4 wickets IMO.

I'm interested to see more so how India tackle this.

Not that I'm disagreeing, but do you think they could chase 100 in 12 overs with Kumble bowling outside leg?

Slow outfield might prevent 10 runs. They have the batsmen to do it but I'd back India to prevent it if they only had an hour.

And even if Kumble wasn't bowling...just look at the pitch, if we get the right fielders at the right place, then this pitch isn't really the one where 100 runs in 15 overs would be easy

Cricinfo.com Meanwhile, H Maragh is fuming: "WHAT DO YOU MEAN, THE SUPERSOPPER IS OUT OF GAS AND WHACK? IS THE GROUND STAFF RESPONSIBLE FOR UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE OF THE EQUIPTMENT? THIS IS NOTHING BUT POOR MANAGEMENT! THE SUPERVISOR SHOULD BE DOCKED A DAY'S PAY!"

And that fine is before you question his reasons of preparing a track more suited to Mumbai than Cape Town.

" The situation as of now: 15:05 start, Tea at 16:40, last hour to start at 17:30 or when 34 overs have been bowled, 49 overs left in the day. Whew."

South Africa would like to end this before tea, you would guess.

LOL why is Greg Chappell out on the field. Looks like they'll try to get as many leg-side fielders as they can - might as well throw Chappell, Frazier and Vengsarkar in there.

I've changed sides. I've conceeded that India can't win this and it would be a real shame for this to be a draw.

Assistent groundsman newly promoted to head groundsman. I think this is his first test match, so give the poor guy a break, he must be feeling suicidal ATM.
