Anyone who doesnt rate Vermeulen hasnt seen enough of him. He is defiantely a class act in good form. Ask any West Indian!

No offence to West Indies or anything but runs against them aren't exactly a firm indicator of top-level ability ATM.
His poor VB Series was more reliable IMO. And can anyone remember where Zimbabwe play next? Because I sure can't.

Ervine proved today that he can bat higher up the order. The middle order is perfect for him, he can mould into a great player there.

I rate Ervine rather higher with this series than I did previously.
Still don't think he's much of a bowler, but a very useful batsman.
And not yet sure about his Test credentials.
But another Bangladesh series is the last thing Zimbabwe need now. A chance for some useless players to get some good international figures.

I'm not saying I definately think he can't, just that I'll wait until he does before making a judgement.

Actually I think he got 4 wickets.

And I stand corrected, Ervine looks good at 5. I said stick with a winning thing with Ervine at 8 (like Klusener), but Ervine at 5 seems to be more of a winning thing than at 8.

Regarding Vermeulen, West Indies certainly arent as bad as you all you make out, and it was the way he scored the runs, not just the runs that impressed me. I have seen him play well on other ocaasions as well, but due to a number of reason (colapses, run outs etc), he hasnt done what he could have. His poor VB Series was a result of lack of trust of the other players. He did look good against Australia A, and when he trusted the lower order players, he looked good agaisnt India before being stricken on the head.

Does three wickets against and a 50-odd against Australia count?
4 wickets for 150-odd, remember? Cheap wickets, not simply wickets, are the indicative of good bowling.
The 50-odd in the Test is in marked contrast to how all-at-sea he looked in England. Wait until we have more than 1 game before making judgements.
Like I say, I'm not saying I definately think he can't do it, just under no circumstances can we judge one form of the game on the other.
