Joyous - Despite the exhilarating experiences in the 05, 09 and 10/11 Ashes its still 1981 and the sheer "joie de vivre" that ITB suddenly brought into the game

Worst - That moment every year that comes at some point between May and September when I realise it's going to be at least another year before the Championship pennant flies over the pavilion at Old Trafford

The most elated I've felt after a cricketing moment was when the final wicket fell at Headingley in 1981.

The worst I've ever felt was when I was bowled for a duck by a female right arm off spinner who was given special permission to play when the other team were left short of players due to the annual Ten Tours on Dartmoor. It wouldn't have been quite so bad if she hadn't been a nun who'd never played cricket before and was really left-handed.

Hard to look past the 05 Ashes. There may be others but that is always front and center.

Most depressing from an England POV-- The 1990s

Joyous: Test series Aus vs SA in SA in 2009. Hughesy making fairytale debut, Mitch (ala Gilly) smashing them around and bowling awesome, stopping SA getting world number 1 in their own backyard, group huddle at the end of 2nd Test.

Depressing: Last Ashes series, especially the MCG Test which i went to.

Most joyous? Sydney 10/11, because I was there and the atmosphere from the English-dominated crowd was unbelievable.

Most depressing? I would have said Brisbane 06/07 because from the first ball bowled I knew the whole tour would be a disaster, but really the most depressing cricket moment for me was the 2010 Lords Test England vs Pakistan. It was like discovering your long-term partner had been cheating on you. Everything in cricket seemed really orchestrated for a while after that, and I'm still suspicious.

AWTA so much. That Lords test almost killed cricket for me. The Cronje fiasco was also bad but I wasn't quite old enough to understand the deeper issues it meant for the game. The fact that Amir, who was probably my favourite cricketer at the time was involved made things twice as bad too.

Bet we all have been bowled over by females multiple times.

Funnily enough my sister, who is left handed but was bowling right handed, and who hadn't played cricket before, bowled out Martin Speight. She's pretty far fron being a nun though although she did go to a convent school.

Joyous moments much the same as the other English CWers - 2005 because it was the first time in so long, and so many mornings in 2010/11 when I woke up to a score that I could not have anticipated in a million years.

Depressing - obviously Adelaide 2006, but beyond that the 2nd half of the 1980's: losing five home series on the trot without even winning a single test is not something I'd care to repeat, culminating in what may well be our worst ever Ashes performance in 1989.

Single most depressing moment for me in cricket was the retirement of Adam Gilchrist. Nothing to match it that I can think of. Not losing Ashes or matches.

When I was a kid, I was pretty down-hearted about GS Chappell's retirement, I do remember that.

There will be more, Sam.

The beauty of Australian cricket, more than any other, has been its magic puddingesque quality. No matter how many great cricketers you take from it, more just crop up...

That said, I would have thought that you'd have been gutted once it became apparent that Robby Key would never play tests again. Now there was a penguin of a cricketer if there ever was one!

Well, it's always a sad day when a fatso retires from the international scene. There are far too few of them.

Gilchrist was special. I never got depressed about OoohAhhh or Warne retiring.

If they introduce T10, I'm sure Warne will be back.

The best moments for me were the test win against Australia recently and the T20 win under Younis.

Worst moments were the Sydney test, 1999 WC loss and the spot fixing tragedy.

Worst moment: Spot fixing controversy. Wasn't so down about the world cup as I knew atleast it was a clean and fair tournament

BEST MOMENT:England v Pakistan at Lahore when Shoaib was ripping the hell out of England. And also because its my best recent memory of Pakistan Cricket in their own goddamn country,
EDIT: When Dominic Cork retires I'll be pretty upset, he was a total hero

Best Moment: Nothing stands out completely, so I'm going for the recent option and that was Ponting's century against India in the quarter final game. I was very satisfied as Ponting's batting and career was being scrutinized left, right and centre.

Worst moment: Reading Bun's posts.
