I want Israel to come out big and I want Palestine to be a member and I want them to play each other on regular basis .
Well the easiest way to bring new countries to cricket would be for the UN to mandate that territorial disputes would be settled by the game.

Imagine the investment in the game if the rights to run the administration of Cyprus went to an ethnic group depending on who won, an every 4 year Test series, between Greece and Turkey. :)

Each group would run the country until the next series where the ethnic group of the series winner would take over for another 4 years.

Who said sports and politcs don't mix

Afghanistan. I saw a wee piece on them on Gilette World Sport Special. They beat Essex 2nds and some of the shotmaking was class.

Associate: Kenya (I'm sure that comes as a surprise...)

Affiliate: Uganda and PNG. These two have really made big strides in terms of their youth development.

Thats the one I saw aswell, there are really enthusiastic about their cricket and for their spirit and work ethci, they damn well deserve that world cup slot. They need to start playing international cricket like the bermuda's and the canada's etc

That's assuming they make it through the Asian qualifying rounds first. They get two chances, first this year and then in 2008: in this year's tournament, 17 teams participate in a football championship style format, and the best ranked that's not UAE and Oman (i.e. most likely Kuwait, Nepal or Afghanistan) qualify for the World Division Three tournament next winter. If they're among the top three of the eight then, they're still in with a shout, otherwise they have to go through the ACC trophy again.

It is a bit biased towards those who did well in 2004 and 2005.

And rightly so, to be honest. Rewards developing infrastructures...

If an upcoming side is good enough (as Afghanistan may well be) then they'll get through (viz Namibia ICCT 2002)

Afghanistan - they beat the MCC and with the game being popularized through links with Pakistan theyve got a chance of becoming a great team especially in ODIs. Imagine a team of 11 Pathans - Afridi after Afridi lol

Canada. This time next year I'm probably gonna be out there myself, so I hope they go well in the WC. Might help me get some cricket while I'm out there.
