I think a world series should be started with 10 non test playing teams

The format should be:
  • 40 overs or 35 overs
  • Two groups of 5 teams
  • each will play home and away three matches then the semis and finals
  • It would extend for 5 months
  • It would be only for these non-test playing teams.

For example:

Group A

Namibia
Uganda
Kenya
UAE
Argentina

Group B

Holland
Canada
Ireland
Scotland
Afghanistan
China

3 home and away matches in group stage, best of three semi finals and finals.

Following would be a game between the winner of this and the winner of the ICC World Cup.

It will have big budget proper marketing and coveraged around the world by reputed channels, and each team will play only 6 matches per month 3 at home country and 3 away country.

The 3 Finals will be in selected grounds around the world

it will help talents from these countries like Ryan Ten Doeschate ,Dockrell to get recognition

teams will be grouped so dat they req min travelling.......we will get sponsors no doubt..icc will itself be the biggest sponsor and we can rope in sachin tendulkar, ganguly, mcgrath as ambassadors

the tv audiences will not get bored
bcoz of a new format called Pro35

16 overs of powerplay
14 ovs of spinplay(cont. spin)
5 ovs of freeplay
match length 4hrs 30 mins

the jersey designs and tv graphics and presentation will be awesome and stadium facilities improved

Matches will be held only on wed/sat/sun

Plzz say whether u like it or not..............?
Interesting but impractical imho.

Australia and England for example have totally different seasons. So it's very difficult to find this 5 month long common window. Apart from that it would also mean no test cricket during that period.

Extremely sorry to have misread your first post. Apologies.

Yes, it is certainly tenable imho but am not sure what a 40 over tournament can bring to the table anymore than what the present ICC qualifiiers, and other tournaments are doing. I must admit my knowledge of what and how much cricket Associate and below nations play is a bit grey.

My proposed world series will have proper marketing and big budget and will be shown in reputed sports channels around the world

Then there will be a special match called WORLD SERIES VS WORLD CUP

betwn rsptive winners

Hmm.. but will they have the audience to lap it up? I mean do they have sufficient "home" audience to ensure that even if such matches are televised will be viewed in that many big numbers? What will be your argument's USP while presenting this to the investors, without whom big budgets wouldn't be possible in the first place? I am not sure any home match held in places like Argentina can bring in a crowd of more than 5000. The less said about TV viewership the better.

I don't think the duration is the issue here. Even a T20 competition is likely to attract less crowds I stated.

No offence, but I don't think you haven't understood my point. I hope to continue this discussion when we have a some sort of alignment as to our arguments. :)

Well It's an interesting idea but theres a few things that might cause concern. I think 5 months for a non test match tournament is too long, seeing as you need public interest.

Where did you get the big budget from?

I don't think the Ireland vs Australia match sorry World Series vs World Cup match would be THAT exciting.
