Words that have come back to bite.....

Potential candidate for this thread in the future:

"The most pleasing aspect about this team is that we can play at 60% of our ability and still win matches."
Gary Kirsten rates his side pretty high - or the opposition pretty low, take your pick

Unlike Kirsten to say anything at all. Usually keeps well clear of the media, and is in the background (like most good coaches).

Ponting is arrogant and nobody needs any proof about that and its bound to come
as his team dominated cricket for a decade and his comment in his captains dairy after they won the odi series in india a month after their loss at t20 world cup and the same indian team which beat them in t20 won the cb series in aus .classic case of words that come back to bite you
Possibly, but on the other hand he makes wonderful milk

"This is the worst Australian side to visit England since WW2"
- The Sun (IIRC) circa May 1989.

Words to the effect of :"I know Shane's gotten a lot of blokes out that way, but he'll never bowl me around my legs"
- K Pietersen in his book "A Tale of Naff Haircuts", about Shane Warne. Then came Adelaide 2006-2007.

McGrath's 5-0 thing in 2005 has been dealt with.

Anything uttered by G Smith on his 1st tour to Australia as skipper of SA. Compare and contrast with the past summer.
I was thinking of this one too...didn't they also call us Dad's Army in 2006?

Talking of India, Greg Chappell, coaching the Indians in the West Indies, said the West Indians had forgotten how to win, after the Indians sneaked a win in the first match. They then lost the next four matches.

After the first Test match in that same tour, where Brian Lara's men had the upper hand by posting a massive total, he said they only prefer to bat once in a match. They ended up losing the series without winning a match.
