Woolmer on Afridi!!

The first point i want to mention is that Afridi has always been very useful for Pakistan. And he can both bat and bowl as well.
Then you have to think over your reproach that he is just a good hitter of the ball. Look when he plays this awesome shots for four! They are so nicely struck that you might think that Inzi or Youhana are on strike.
But as he once said he loves to entertain and hear this knocking sound when the ball hits his bat thats why he prefers to hit more sixes than fours!
Nevertheless one in all you can say that there is some consistency in his batting to notice if you look at his runs in Australia and India averaging on well 30s (in Australia) and on very fast scored 40 (in India) but no thats wrong...He always scores fast...

For me Afridi is the best entertaining and talented cricket .....He is just my favourite cricketer and he is maturing!!!

I was trying to show you what might've led to his comments. When the next wasim akram or bengali babu takes shot at pakistani cricketers, it's only fair that they will hit back. Try to understand what might've led to his comments before you go around saying that was low of him to say that. This sort of personal attacks are common in a pak-ind rivalry. My comments were stated to prove that indians aren't such angels when it comes to cricket. I didn't want anyone getting the wrong idea that big bad afridi is taking unprovoked cheap shots at poor defenceless indians.

Again, I still don't know if afridi said something or not. It's all he said she said right now.
Your nick and quality (or lack of it) of your post suggests where on the net you hang out. With time you will know that this is not GS or Gupistan.

quality of my posts. What is wrong with the quality of my posts. I was just pointing out what the other side was saying and consider both sides of the issue before you judge. Did you want me to keep my mouth shut when other people are saying how low pak players are with their comments. Unless ofcourse you are indian and embarrassed at the next wasim akram's and bengali babu's comments and don't want the world to know what they said to the pak players when they were down. KARMA IS A BITCH, MAN. Again, come some one tell me what dada "delivered" in the past series. I didn't follow it so I wouldn't know. Did he hit triple century in every match. :)

Sorry if i talked in german....

Back to topic:

I didnt expect Afridi with my last post to score in each match about 50/70 +...

I just expect from him to score over 30 up to 40 with a strike rate of around 200....This would make a huge difference between two sides. Its like getting 3,4 wickets each match for a bowler.

Just shut up, will you?

I'm NOT trying to downgrade Afridi's talent :@ , i was expressing my doubts over Woolmer description of Afridi as the most talented player he has ever seen in his lifetime. If one go strickly by his statements then Afridi becomes more taleneted than the likes of Viv Richards,Tendulkar, Steven and others!
vinod kambli had more talent then tendulkar...y not mention him? steven...ur personal friend? oh nehrafan...explain what is talent?

Gillespie talks on how to get Afridi !!

Gillespie said in an interview to Indian Express :-

"First bang in a couple of good bouncers and then follow it with a line and length delivery on off stump. Hopefuly he would edge it to the wicketkeeper trying to go after the ball or hole out in the (out)field"
he says without blinking an eyelid.

Hmmm, since I havent heard this from Gillespie before I must assume he has been reading my posts on CW :p

wow, what a great idea. I wonder why others haven't thought of it before. *sarcasm off* I mean come on, don't tell me that indian bowlers didn't know this valuable piece of information before.

First of all. Anyone who watches the game can see that he revels off the front foot and from straight field to midwicket. Cricket is not rocket science unfortunately one needs to have basics clear which is rarer than logically makes sense.

Secondly, I doubt if Gillespie is the only one to notice that. I quoted a passage from Imran which said mostly the same stuff.

Thirdly, the Indian bowlers lack the pace necessary to make bouncers effective. If you read through what Gillespie is saying, it implies that "discomforted by bouncers, Afridi will go for the , relatively, pitched up delivery but being not of drivable length and on or outside the off stump he is likely to make a mistake.

A Shoaib Akhtar would be able to do it if we are to consider bowlers from the sub continent.

Zaheer did the next best thing, he kept the ball just short of a length to Afridi and the result was there for all to see.

If bowlers around the world did not know how to handle Afridi, he would have had more than one hundred per 60 plus ODI's as he averages today.

The shortest gap beteen two hundreds for Afridi is 58 games !! That tells a story.

Just check how many he has against real chin music. If you arent willing to do that wait for his next encounter with similar bowling and come back here.

Go. Get a life. Seriously.

Would you care to explain why you conveniently omitted to mention Javed Miandads comments about Pathan, the one where he claimed that bowlers like him were to be found in every gully of Pakistan..

Now can you get into your puny brain the reason for the "mocking " of the Pakistan camp after the very same gully bowler was instrumental in making the Pakistanis eat humble pie ? You reap what you sow. You mock an opposition player, and he'll give it back to you in equal measure after proving you wrong.
