Will Shane Warne ever make a Century for Australia

Well hopefully Aussies will treat Bangladesh like England did, ie it's still a Test match, still to be taken seriously, even if it will all be over by the third morning. It's not the place to try and gain World Records, or move Warne up the order to try and get a century!

Well... all players are eye-players, you don't become a good batsman without being able to pick-up the ball.
I'd expect Warne's batting to have declined before now, if it was going to, frankly.
I meant that like tres and sehwag he doesn't have a deal of foot movement.

Well, yes, that just makes them a non-foot-movement player.
There have been players who've had success that way - Graham Gooch being the most obvious example - but most players need to move their feet.
The term often used is "shifting the weight".

England treated Bangladesh with the disdain they merited.
Simply didn't give 2 hoots about the fact that it was supposed to be a contest.

Yes, but what I mean is, Flintoff hadn't had any First Class time in the middle, they could have altered the batting line-up to accomodate him and ensure he got some batting, same for Geraint, but Fletcher refused to alter anything as it was still a Test match.

Well, yes, but still - I think it was revealing the complete disregard for anything other than getting the "Tests" out of the way as soon as they could.

... nah, he probably won't even get to bat. Got to fancy Ponting to threaten Lara's 400 though.

Let me ask a question, do you have to make the prediction in the appropriate week to win the Tony Greig award, or does it just have to be disproved in said week.

Lots of contenders thus far 8-) myself included "it will all be over by the third morning"

As you say, a few contenders - perhaps the award can be shared.

As far as your prediction goes - it might take Bangladesh until tea to wrap up an innings victory.

/no, that's not a prediction

He's not technically wrong yet. Ponting can still break the 400 in another innings yet.

EDIT: Wrong about Warne though.

Still time ....

Have to say I'm loving this, though.

When has Warne ever looked like scoring a century without at least 3 dropped catches and missed stumpings?
The thing is though Richard, dropped catches and missed stumpings are still likely throughout the rest of career. If it takes three dropped catches and a missed stumping for him to get there, then so be it..

To be honest, I don't see him getting a hundred, but your arguement was poor.

I have to say I'm not.
Picture this...
Bangladesh are annhailated in their next 9 "Tests". But for this game, they might have been stripped of Test status. Instead, it's "how can they possibly be unworthy of Test status! They beat Australia" etc etc.

Still denying that they're improving then?

What's wrong with that? They've played very well.

I expect Bangladesh will continue to struggle away from home, much like the other subcontinent nations (albeit moreso), but I think they've done enough to show that they can be quite competitive at home indeed. Consider that South Africa never gave Australia this much of a challenge across six tests.

I'd consider the Sydney Test as great a challenge as this. 'Twas only the weather that stopped SA from completely dominating.

And maybe the last Test. Probably can't compare until the end of this Test though.

Yeah, the Sydney test is fair enough I suppose, but South Africa never had Australia 6 down and still over 300 behind. The last time Australia was in a position that bad was the Ashes, and before that... possibly in Sri Lanka or the Chennai test in India. Certainly not something many teams have managed.

If Australia bowl Bangladesh out before lunch today and win by 8 wickets it might look a bit different, so I guess we'll see.
