Why is that still a thing? Champions Trophy

Is the CC scores overlay the worst ever? Green and blue from a 16bit colour pallet. Where is the magenta?

Because 50 over cricket is important and why not? **** me, we get a T20 World event basically every year and a meaningless T20 franchise comp every six weeks.

I don't know why anyone would have a problem with this

I think because the tournament was originally born to raise funds to help develop cricket in fringe territories, then they changed their minds and decided to keep it to the core nations.

I'm actually glad this is still a thing (need all the variety you can get in a calendar of T20 leagues and bilaterals-for-no-good-reason). Don't mind the format too much, though I would much rather have some inclusivity 16 teams in a sudden death/knockout format, seeing the World Cup has turned its back on lower-ranked teams.

The simple (and quite cynical) answer is the Indian (and to a lesser extent the Pakistani, Bangladeshi, maybe even English?) TV audiences. Even if people don't care all that much about it, it'll be whistling away on a TV in the background at home, work, people's phones, and in pubs and restaurants, and the chance to drum up nationalism and the prospect of a trophy win is generally good for broadcasters. Wouldn't be a stretch to say that the mandatory India-Pakistan game is a standalone reason too. 16-team knockout unfortunately won't happen because not only does it mean India could be eliminated quickly, you have to maximise the proportion of games India is involved in.

Why has Australia & New Zealand (or West Indies) never hosted the Champions Trophy?

Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan have while England hosted it 3 times. Why is India now hosting it a 2nd time in 2029?

Fast forward to 2029 when India host the CT and Pakistan want to play all their matches in Dubai including semi-final and Final. BCCI of course says no so it transfers to Aus & NZ 😉

And NZ to play all their group matches in NZ and that one odd final/semifinal in Aus where they get spanked

Most of the viewership comes from the subcontinent so difficult to attract maximum viewership

Day-Night games start at 8.30 AM IST in Australia (except Perth) and 6.30 AM IST for games in NZ.

Games in West Indies start at 7.30 PM IST. Nobody is going to be arsed to watch an ODI through the night.

10PM start tonight. I'll give it a crack. Will need a lot of coffee at work tomorrow though.

That is pretty much the time when we (NZ) start day tests in England and SA too.

What's the best overseas venue for you guys? Always seems like you're watching in the middle of the night! Apart from Aus obviously
