I think because the tournament was originally born to raise funds to help develop cricket in fringe territories, then they changed their minds and decided to keep it to the core nations.Because 50 over cricket is important and why not? **** me, we get a T20 World event basically every year and a meaningless T20 franchise comp every six weeks.
I don't know why anyone would have a problem with this
Ok, that's a fair pointI think because the tournament was originally born to raise funds to help develop cricket in fringe territories, then they changed their minds and decided to keep it to the core nations.
Coz you guys wont give up your season to accomodate this tournament. Why has Australia & New Zealand (or West Indies) never hosted the Champions Trophy?
Really, it's a 2 week tournament and the recent Test series with India was ony between 22 Nov and 7 Jan, so plenty of time in Oct/Nov or Jan/FebCoz you guys wont give up your season to accomodate this tournament.
I thought this year's was the final ever edition. Why has Australia & New Zealand (or West Indies) never hosted the Champions Trophy?
Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan have while England hosted it 3 times. Why is India now hosting it a 2nd time in 2029?
I am pretty sure they ask for bids to host. I dont recall seeing CA or NZC ever bid or even try.Really, it's a 2 week tournament and the recent Test series with India was ony between 22 Nov and 7 Jan, so plenty of time in Oct/Nov or Jan/Feb
And NZ to play all their group matches in NZ and that one odd final/semifinal in Aus where they get spankedFast forward to 2029 when India host the CT and Pakistan want to play all their matches in Dubai including semi-final and Final. BCCI of course says no so it transfers to Aus & NZ![]()
Most of the viewership comes from the subcontinent so difficult to attract maximum viewershipWhy has Australia & New Zealand (or West Indies) never hosted the Champions Trophy
The final needs to be in PNG,Samoa,Fiji etc. to be neutralAnd NZ to play all their group matches in NZ and that one odd final/semifinal in Aus where they get spanked
