Indian government doesn't allow anyone to except any foreign titles, actually any title.

There was a campaign (at least by Punch magazine) for WG to be knighted in 1895 though I don’t think it was seriously considered. According to one source he was also on the list of prominent people to be offered peerages by the liberal government in 1911 to pack the House of Lords in its dispute with the Commons though in the end this was not necessary.

Yeah Aussies banned knighthoods. They then opened it back up in 2015 and I expected Richie Benaud to be knighted, but Tony Abbott knighted the Queens hubby Prince Phillip in Jan '15 instead (Ridiciculous and lost him the PM job) Richie died in Apri'15

If NZ had received or shared the 2019 CWC Williamson might have been offered one (although if he gets 10K runs/40 test 100s along with the 2021 WTC, he might be offered it). Richie the GOAT McCaw was offered a knighthood but turned it down.
