Can't be arsed to look this up, on this tragic day, but didn't the Aussies themselves ban their heathen races from knighthooid at one point?

I'm guessing India might be the same.
Imperial honours ended here decades ago. Then, when he became prime minister renowned Anglophile Tony Abbott brought them back - and gave Prince Phillip a knighthood. I **** you not.

Probably the most memorable thing he did as PM apart from eating a raw onion on live tv.

what a time to be alive that was. They’ve since been canned again

$50k was the going rate for knighthoods in Australia back in the day

Not cheap as it was the equivalent of a couple of houses but explains why random business types had one

Knighthoods are a joke and not taken seriously by any serious people. This is why people getting uppity and bent out of shape about how they would never accept one is a very effective indicator of mental enfeeblement.

International Captain
Sir Allan Border

Border brought a lot of dignity and respect to the game. He was an all time great batsman, fielder and skipper. Him getting knighted would add more respectability to knighthood.

So Sir Donald Bradman is the only Australian to receive a knighthood for services to cricket. Well deserved but who else should have received one due the many given to West Indies and English cricketers?

It's worth noting that Bill Woodfull refused a knighthood in 1934, the only other Aussie cricketer to be offered.

I'd say Richie Benaud should have been top of the list
The British monarchy did a lot of terrible things to be in a position to give knighthoods, so respectfully it isn't that important.

Another thread where the answer is Jadeja.

Although some would say he already has the knighthood.
