Yeah Tremlett's been a let down this game. He's still been threatening because he's a naturally good and threatening bowler but his overall discipline this game has been well below what I've come to expect of him.

Tremlett has been dangerous, that's all I'm saying. He can improve. As can Anderson. Broad, don't think you could bowl much better than he has in this match. India must must must be more positive though or they will cook them.

Tremlett injured?

Seemed below par and down on pace during this match so maybe Bresnan at the swinging ground on Friday would be a useful change.

Neither Broad nor Bresnan convince me as new ball bowlers though. Broad's bowled beautifully this game but I still think he's much better as a first change bowler.

If Tremlett really is carrying a niggle then he shouldn't play. There's absolutely no reason for England carrying half-fit seamers with the bowling depth they have. I certainly don't think he should be dropped on the basis of form or conditions though; he's definitely far enough ahead of Bresnan in my estimation for one game to not mean that much.

I think he grimaced slightly after bowling a delivery last night and David Lloyd or someone suggested he might be carrying a niggle or something. Presumably not realising that Tremlett's face is permanently in a grimace. I didn't hear any mention of it or see anything that would suggest he isn't fully fit today.

He was poor at Lord's against Sri Lanka too so it could have something to do with the slope. England will certainly hope so.

What I'm not getting is where his masses of no-balls came from. Hoping it's something to do with the ground though.

Tremlett mentioned it himself after the first innings, might've been on Five with Nicholas. Had experienced some tightness in his hamstring just above the knee.

Ah, I see. Strange that he didn't leave the field at all second innings. Hopefully he's okay, but if Bresnan's got to come in for a match you'd want it to be this one.

 you Sparkeh.

Tremmers has been off colour though. Far too many legside deliveries, with alternate spells looking like doing the business. Reminded me of Finn itbt, and he's better. And where the hell has Tremlett's no-ball problem come from?
I just get the feeling, from what I've seen of Tremlett, that he has trouble bowling at Lords, the slope really seems to bother him, it was the same in the SL game there as well.
I bet if he plays at Trent Bridge, he will be back to being awsome.

I think we safely say the Broad most definitely fits the bill of a genuinely unlucky bowler.

:)

What was it - 3 dropped catches, 2 plumb LBWs turned down?

He should have had the entire Indian top 6 in the first innings and another six in the 2nd innings iirc.

He'll know that he bowled brilliantly, so his confidence should be high for Trent Bridge.

Broad's records home and away continue to diverge. Thinking there's something to it.

38 with the bat and 32 with the ball at home.

Away is... awful.

Since august 2009, it's 36 with the bat and 24 with the ball.

Away is.. still awful.

Where's he played away, though? IIRC he's played on some horrifically flat decks away.
Since August 2009 - 4 tests in SA, a couple of tests in Bangladesh and a test and a bit in Australia.

Before that - some appallingly flat tracks in the Caribbean, a couple of tests in India, a test or two in SL and a couple of tests in NZ.

It's embarassing that Steven Finn isn't even in contention for a spot in the English team as of now, but would stroll right into the Indian line up

He'll probably replace Tremlett if the latter is injured. Him or Bresnan, anyway.

It's one of Flower's best pieces of selection, for mine. The non-thinking selection-by-numbers approach would have kept Finn in the side because his stats were OK and he's young. Flower knew better and has been proved right.
