Kanhai? He's much better than Martyn though.

Before FP mentions him I doubt JF Reid would make 00s Aus.

The Invincibles might actually be the toughest team to crack batting-wise. There were too many below test-standard players in late 50s WI, and I rate Hassett so beating him would be marginally more difficult than Mead/Jardine/Leyland or Martyn.

The answer IMO is therefore Hassett.

i think you're right but i don't think it's necessarily inarguable

marto average of 46 in a very batting friendly era batting with one of the best top orders the game has ever seen, qdk 38 in a much more bowler friendly era and behind at times a much shakier top order and neither had much tail support
