You could say the exact same thing about Pietersen.Outside of current cricketers, below names pop into my mind :-
Kevin Pietersen
Martin Crowe
VVS Laxman
Hashim Amla
Graeme Smith
Alastair Cook
Gordon Greenidge
Graham Gooch
Clive Lloyd
And ofcourse the greatest wicketkeeper batsman, Adam Gilchrist.
I have tried not considering players with poor overseas record like Mahela Jayawardene or small sample players like Damien Martyn( who was excellent when played but had he managed a longer career, his average would have been lesser because he was dropped from the team).
Quite frankly they should scrub that farce of a match from everyone's test stats. It's interesting to note that Inzy averaged 50+ when playing for Pakistan. Unfortunately for him, he played 1 match for World XI against Australia in 2005 and scored just 1 run. If we discount this match, Inzy averages 50.16.
Every RIS CC postGrace & Woakes are my first thoughts.
If you discount MJ out, then has to do same with Gilschrist, Cook. Crowe and Amla. All of them had poor averages in two or three countries. Lloyd also very poor in WI.Outside of current cricketers, below names pop into my mind :-

Murali would finish on 795 wickets rather than 800. It won't happen.Quite frankly they should scrub that farce of a match from everyone's test stats.

Simply these batsmen average such because they have one or two holes in their armours. If some one averages 45-50, and has no holes in the armor they are most likely to be very sedate batsmen and rarely match winners.
Home: 46.46Lloyd wasn't very poor in WI.
Only averaged 46 at home. What a disgrace.Home: 46.46
Away: 46.80
Trash at home.
Heh so actually he has only the 17th highest average of Windies batsmen at home (min 1000 runs). 6th highest away average. Windies notorious HTB’sOnly averaged 46 at home. What a disgrace.
Migara was talking about SL players in particular. i.e if the thread was “Who are the best batsmen from Sri Lanka with a sub-50 average?” Samaraweera would be rightly mentioned in the discussionI am just contemplating how can anyone suggest Samaraweera with a straight face to be in this discussion.....
Don't know. Mahela, Aravinda, I agree with; Mathews also. Personally feel Samaraweera has one of the most bloated averages for such career length.Migara was talking about SL players in particular. i.e if the thread was “Who are the best batsmen from Sri Lanka with a sub-50 average?” Samaraweera would be rightly mentioned in the discussion
