Which sub 50 bats are better than Hayden and Chanderpaul? Ignoring Yousuf because he ruins the purpose of this exercise.

Lloyd, Crowe, Boycott, Greenidge, Kanhai, Amla, Harvey etc.

I'd have Hayden and Chanderpaul over Simpson. Would actually have Lawry over Hayden though, but probably not Chanderpaul. Agree on May and probably Worrell too.

Sobers played 8 matches there, and a properly bad record. Richards only 3 matches of one tour in total: too little to judge

I have said previously as well, I am not judging. Just stating that WI's arguably two greatest batsmen for some reason or other averages sub 20.

I wouldn't disregard India as not being a challenge. His two hundreds in 1974 came against three members of the spin quartet. Big hundreds too. Took control of both tests.

Came in at 42-4 in Kolkata (1983) and made 161*. Kapil Dev bowled superbly in that series and took 4/91 in that innings.

A century is century what ever way you look at. How ever the challenge for WI in those days were clearly Pakistan.

You don't know what you're talking about. Explain why some of the bowlers sucked there then. Truth be told, prior to the 80s, as has been pointed out Aust/Nz tours were usually combined and after the gruel of Australia, you know the rest. And everyone simply has a boogy team that they struggled against. For every Sobers or Lloyd who did bad in NZ, there is a : Gayle, Weekes, Chanderpaul, Greenidge etc who did well there.

I am speaking about WI. All pacers who found success against WI, bowled up to the bat, moved it around, and were super accurate, and rarely tried bouncing out WI batsmen. Imran was the only one particularly fast, Hadlee and Kapil were fast medium. (Count out Lillee because he bowled majority on faster pitches, where Imran, Kapil and Hadlee bowled on all sorts of wickets against WI). Gayle and Weeks are out of the time period where NZ had a potent attack led by Hadlee. Greenidge of course, there are batsmen in a team who will excel in different conditions. I am not sure what you are ranting about here.

Mathews is better than Chanders. I'd have KP, Gilchrist better than Chanders. Hayden is a tough one.

Lloyd was a great player of spin, as was Kalicharan.

No one dismisses runs against India. Pakistan was just way tougher with a well rounded attack testing every aspect of the game.

There is little to no basis for this. Pakistan's bowling attacks weren't that great through most of the 70s. They got better towards the very end of the decade and in the 80s when Imran reached his peak.
