I’m more shocked that he didn’t include both of them to be honest.I'd take Williamson over Taylor. And Shakib could be replaced by a better batsman depending on the rest of the side.

Cynical.I’m more shocked that he didn’t include both of them to be honest.
Yes. It is Botham every day of the week and twice on a Sunday. You feel Taylor's undeserving of that mantle and it's only Kiwi bias that his name was mentioned?

Yea while watching him may suggest that he is some sort of crazy strokemaker, he does actually just play a lot of run-a-ball accumulation/rotation kind of innings. It's hard to see him do well in a team where he has to strike at 150.It's hard to know what to do with Shakib's batting in a side where he wouldn't be expected to hold the entire top six together. His batting record in the IPL for example is very ordinary.
Nah, he can't score quickly enough and we already have Root in the team that can anchor the innings.Smith easily replaces Morgan imo.
Morgan is averaging 57.88 with a SR of 108.09 this year....Morgan's not really a big hitter though? It's one thing if Morgan was as agressive as the rest of the England lineup but I don't think that's the case. Obviously my memory might be playing tricks on me though.
Agree Root is ahead of Smith at ODI level.
Smith is inferior because he averages 10 less. Pretty simple. Not a bad record at all but Root's is pretty great.I don't see how Smith is inferior to Root. He'd offer the English valuable experience at winning world cup finals and playing clutch innings in world cup finals. Something joined of these English players have done before.
Eh, Kohli is obvioulsy on a tier by himself, but you could probably make a case for Taylor being on his own one below him to.Oh I agree he should be in the mix for it along with a number of others. Kohli aside I think you could make arguments for anything up to another 10 players on current form.
I don't know, Sharma's stats looking slightly better if I'm honest. Better SR & more hundreds.Eh, Kohli is obvioulsy on a tier by himself, but you could probably make a case for Taylor being on his own one below him to.

I'm looking at it from more of a longer-term perspective. Anyone can have periods where they look great, in a period of the last 3/4 years it's at least close. (though I will say I thought he was doing worse than a mid-90's SR since about 2015) He also has the advantage of English grounds being a fair bit smaller than Australian ones.Morgan is averaging 57.88 with a SR of 108.09 this year....
taylor is nzs best odi batsman ever and it's not close. kane scores 70s then finds a brand new way to throw it away, taylor scores 100s.I'd take Williamson over Taylor. And Shakib could be replaced by a better batsman depending on the rest of the side.
