Who do you have pegged for your 4 semi finalists?

Cynical.

You feel Taylor's undeserving of that mantle and it's only Kiwi bias that his name was mentioned?

Oh I agree he should be in the mix for it along with a number of others. Kohli aside I think you could make arguments for anything up to another 10 players on current form.

It's hard to know what to do with Shakib's batting in a side where he wouldn't be expected to hold the entire top six together. His batting record in the IPL for example is very ordinary.
Yea while watching him may suggest that he is some sort of crazy strokemaker, he does actually just play a lot of run-a-ball accumulation/rotation kind of innings. It's hard to see him do well in a team where he has to strike at 150.

Morgan's not really a big hitter though? It's one thing if Morgan was as agressive as the rest of the England lineup but I don't think that's the case. Obviously my memory might be playing tricks on me though.

Agree Root is ahead of Smith at ODI level.
Morgan is averaging 57.88 with a SR of 108.09 this year....

I don't see how Smith is inferior to Root. He'd offer the English valuable experience at winning world cup finals and playing clutch innings in world cup finals. Something joined of these English players have done before.
Smith is inferior because he averages 10 less. Pretty simple. Not a bad record at all but Root's is pretty great.

Root is as much better than Smith at ODIs as Smith is better than Root in tests.

I'm looking at it from more of a longer-term perspective. Anyone can have periods where they look great, in a period of the last 3/4 years it's at least close. (though I will say I thought he was doing worse than a mid-90's SR since about 2015) He also has the advantage of English grounds being a fair bit smaller than Australian ones.

EDIT: Had a look at the stats, Morgan's actually quite a bit ahead of Smith (46.17 @ 98.21) vs (42.89 @ 83.24). Certainly was not expecting a SR gap that large, though I did remember Smith had a big slump at ODI level pre-ban.

I'd take Williamson over Taylor. And Shakib could be replaced by a better batsman depending on the rest of the side.
taylor is nzs best odi batsman ever and it's not close. kane scores 70s then finds a brand new way to throw it away, taylor scores 100s.

kane is quality and in tests he's nzs best ever, but if i had to pick one for an odi team it's definitely taylor and that's not my bias talking.

Kane's SR has nosedived lately too. Taylor's hasn't. He's been kicking better butt for longer. Taylor is easily the best #4 going around these days.

Fair play, I haven't seen a huge amount of NZ recently outside their Sri Lanka tests.

No way SA is getting 10 points from here. Their campaign is over.

Ind, Eng, NZ, Aus. Would hate for either Pak or SL to sneak through due to rain and NRR. Let them have to play all their hard matches
