Ed played three tests, and indeed got a dodgy decision in his last test innings, when he was looking good on sixteen. It;s a shame he didn't make more of an impact.

The young gentleman who currently graces my avatar has few peers as a useless player.
Yet he still manages to hold a place in the Zimbabwean ODI team....

Most of the bowlers actually have better records than his. I think the fact that he actually looks good when he is out there works a lot in his favour. Plays solid defensive shots, cracks a four or two and then gets out, but he LOOKS good, so he keeps getting a game. Im definately getting sick of seeing his recalls to the squad though... if only Vermeulen or Williams got that many chances...

Shah will be back in ODI colours before too long I feel.
That's why I included the "regardless of recent improvements" bit - Shah's got a damn sight better since he played for England, he looks a very useful batsman now.

He never really looked like he had the necessary to do it in Tests though.

India's Robin Singh Jr. Played a test against the Kiwis back in 1999/2000.
One test was not enough for me to pass an over all judgement on the guy.

I agree. But in the list of worst international players? I think thats taking it a bit too far.

I definately agree about Troughton though. He was picked in a bit of a purple patch and looked all at see. Never should have played international cricket.

Except as a specialist sub fielder... ;)

Visu Sibanda, Khaled Mahmud and Blessing Mahwire certainly deserve a mention.
anybody who thinks mahwire is the worst cricketer they've ever seen when hes one of the best players in the zimbabwe national side must seriously be out of their mind.

If I was eligible and had no morals, I could be one of the best players in the Zimbabwe national team :p

I dont know what your talents are at all, but I think you seriously under-estimate how hard it is to perform on the international stage.

How Hauritz could be considered to be a worse spinner than several of those to play for Zimbabwe I don't know. Hauritz got a good pitch for his debut test, but he really wasn't all that awful. I've certainly seen far less dangerous bowlers.

Utseya is probably a bit better than Hauritz as far as ODIs go, and I think both would make pretty god damn awful test players. Utseya has only played one or two tests, and he was actually picked as a batsman and did decently.

Ewing has been picked mainly as a bowler for Zim, and considering he is a batting allrounder in domestic cricket, I think he has done a fair job of it. Probably not as good as Hauritz as far as bowling goes, but he definately a superior batsman, so they are probably pretty even as far as allround players go.

Keith Dabengwa is worse than Hauritz, but again, he has been picked on his batting as well, although I guess it hasnt actually fired.

Cremer, Price, Viljoen and Strang definately were/are/will be better cricketers than Hauritz.

Hauritz seems to have a decent record ....got 5 wickets in his only test ( on a very helpful wicket though) and has an average of 34 in Odi's....i've seen a lot worse

In his only test match, Clarke picked up 6/9.... enough said really. You would have actually expected Hauritz to do BETTER than he did, so his average is very misleading.

I think his ODI average is more of a reflection of the fact that he was playing in a VERY strong squad. Batsmen would finally get through Lee, McGrath and Gillespie, and then jump at the chance to get the scoring going again against Hauritz. An average of 34 combined with an economy rate 5.13 is pretty poor. I dont agree that he is amongst the worst of ODI spinners to play the game, but I dont think hes any better than the current crop of Zimbabwean spinners. The one area Zimbabwe are reasonable at currently is specialist ODI spinners, so I wont sit back and hear them cop criticism as well, just because the batsmen and fast bowlers have been abysmal.
