Unless you whitewash aus, India isn't getting that title
Naah.

Like I said you have to be best of everyone else.

Non big 3 have had multiple whitewashes over last few years so they definitely cannot be it.

If Ind win, they will have better record than the other two and also have defeated them home/away.

Being best isn't winning everything, it's being the best.

I would actually have said the same. But NZ just did beat India 3-0 just recently. Losing twice a row is shameful already, very shameful. No argument there
shameful for India, shameful for Australia,England is perpetually shameful.

thing the best team in the world today is not big 3. Maybe SA, maybe SL

SA has multiple whitewashes away. SL also plus also at home.

SL looking good post Kamindu though.

They might win WTC if trajectory remains.

So going by recent results, as things stand right now it's clear that......

Eng > NZ > india > Aus
On a more serious note, England is no 3 in the world.

But because they play one of Ind/Aus away where they get smashed and the other at home where they can't reciprocate, they have to be near perfect in the other four series and thus WTC final looks tough.

Basically the weakest of the big 3 will have less chances of making the WTC final compared to someone else even if they are no 3 in the world.

No, they're not. They lost a test at home v SL and got smashed in Pakistan. They did superbly to make the most of their many chances v NZ, but they have a weak top 3 and no decent spinners.

There is very little between the top 6 teams with Pakistan, the Windies, and Bangladesh behind them.

They only got "smashed" in Pakistan because of some extreme measures which have never happened in the history of test cricket (playing match on same pitch).

Only team to have not lost any of their last home series against any side.

Big 3 are top 3. England are 3. Winner of BGT is 1.

You can point to NZ winning against Ind but that's just one series. NZ themselves have been whitewashed at home by Aus and away in SL/Eng.
You compare every series against every opponent home/away, big 3 are clear. Non big 3 defeating them in a series doesn't change the standings.

Again this is cause of the FTP where Eng has to play Ind and Aus every cycle. And being the weakest of the big 3 they lose away/draw at home.

Non big 3 teams don't have that.

No way SA is better than Eng.

Eng have been defeating SA home/away for years now and except for WI, have a better away record everywhere.

SA were whitewashed in their last series in Ind, SL, Pak, NZ (depleted team yes).

Eng whitewashed SL away and won a match in Ind and Pak. And have won one in NZ.
