Fair enough.Sorry, probably a bit of hyperbole on my behalf but had to respond to the above statement
FWIW sledger's a troll in this section of the forum, so I won't take anything he says to heart.

lolYou mean apart from the greatest spinner of all time and the best batsman since Bradman?
Don't knock Asanka Gurusinha. Very underated batsman.
Yeah no, it's not as important. Sorry and no offence to Saffas, but that's how it is.I thought Burgey's original post tried to imply Ashes are to tests what World Cups are to ODIs.
In my opinion, Ashes is as important as any other important test series (e.g. England vs South Africa).
Was in the period where Donald couldn't control the white ball, wasn't it?Yeah. Dropped him in the quarters for god knows what reason and Lara ****ed them up good.
Flintoff is such an asset because he could bowl so well in the last 10 overs too. Harris did a wonderful job in the middle overs, but you couldn't use him in the last six or so. The difference between a 5/10 death bowler, and a 5/10 middle overs bowler, can be quite large in terms of the runs it costs you.I love a good troll bowler but Flintoff has the wood on Harris with the bat. As bowlers their roles are completely different so if I was making a team I don't think they would be competing against each other.
You didn't get my point. I wasn't talking about English cricket in particular, but test cricket in general. There are equally (and sometimes more) important contests around the world.Yeah no, it's not as important. Sorry and no offence to Saffas, but that's how it is.
The Ashes is everything to English cricket. We could lose to everyone else, be ranked 10, never win an ODI or T20 and allow Burgey to live in the country. But if we held the urn, that would outweigh the rest.
Yes, India vs Pakistan is another contest that's equally important....Only thing on par to that in Tests is India vs. Pak for me.
Yeah exactly, which is why if I had them in a pool of players to pick from neither would impede the chances of the other being picked. Flintoff is in the opening/death bowler group and Harris the middle overs. Harris is mainly competing with spinners and other medium pacers like Harvey, Larsen et al.Was in the period where Donald couldn't control the white ball, wasn't it?
Ended up coming back and bowling a lot at first change.

I.e in a four over spell (using English players):
Swann vs Collingwood in the middle overs over four overs might be a few runs difference
Flintoff vs Bresnan/Dernbach at the death...
Well I could only pick one I'd pick Flintoff, but that's not the point I'm making. With all due respect to Chris Harris (I personally like him more than I like Flintoff), he isn't comparable to Flintoff at any level.
I would pick Klusener and Chris Harris as ODI alrounders ahead of Flintoff
yeah thorpe, gooch, trott, bell and cook are better without doubt.
when india win one you'll change your tune. And Ashes is overrated FTR.
this post makes me sad.Yeah no, it's not as important. Sorry and no offence to Saffas, but that's how it is.

muh national prideyeah thorpe, gooch, trott, bell and cook are better without doubt.
At the moment, India's chances of winning the Ashes isn't lower than England's chances of winning the World Cup.when india win one you'll change your tune.
