Which ridiculous Bazball win is the best?

Not putting a poll as some will bring up matches I don’t immediately mention but the four ‘how the **** did they win that’ matches that come to mind are…

Trent Bridge V NZ 2022
Rawalpindi away to Pakistan 2022
Hyderabad away to India this Jan
And of course Multan

There are other standout wins that didn’t seem likely for long stretches like Edgbaston V India in 2022, Headingley in last year’s Ashes etc but for me those listed above are games that no England team is ever expected to win. Hell, games you never expect to see any team win.

I probably still lean to Hyderabad but this latest heist really is something else and makes me pause for thought.

I'd probably go Rawalpindi. England scored 921 runs in 136 overs (6.78), days were reduced due to lack of light, they got the job done with about 40 mins to spare. That was a game that no team should've won. You can argue that this was similar, but we knew already that this Pakistan team had a 3rd innings collapse in them if the pressure was applied and so it proved.

Yeah Rawalpindi had the declaration as well. This win felt like an exaggerated version of the sort that India have done loads of times.

Trent Bridge for me. It's probably actually the least impressive of the four, but it's my favourite for the way the winning passage of play just exploded out of nowhere was incredible

Agree with this. When people were looking up the highest scores to lose by an innings, half of them were minnows and the other half were England optimistically putting up 400 in India in recent years.

If India were touring Pakistan they might have done this one too. And while Hyderabad was the most against-the-odds and arguably the coolest, it was an individual performance that won it. I don't think another side would have been able to do the Rawalpindi one, so for me that's the real Bazterpiece.

I still have no idea how the **** England got a result out of Rawalpindi. Usually on a road that big you have to rely on a 3rd innings lolapse, and the pitch earlier in the year never looked like getting a result barring some declaration ****ery. England batted first in that game.....

Hyderabad wasn't really a win for pure Bazball though, it was more down to a freakish innings from Pope.
Tom Hartley’s 7fer a bit harshly overlooked here. It was still a chaseable target. Plus Pope’s innings was pure Bazball

Do kind of agree with your point nonetheless tbf

My favourite is Headingley '22 because I was in the ground for the 200+ partnership between Bairstow and JOverton.

Otherwise agree with the above that Rawalpindi may be the most impressive and most Bazball-y of all the impressive Bazball wins. At the time few people, here or in the England press, seemed to think that the Bazball strat would work in Pakistan. Then bam! 600 runs in about an hour and 20 wickets taken on a highway by "medium pacers" Robinson and Anderson, supported by, of all things, Will Jacks' offspin.

I would say hyderabad it came against atg side at their own home where there have lost just 3 in last 50 tests and also england were 200 behind with losing 5 wickets before Crossing deficit for me imo peak bazball win
