Bumrah will end up as a moderate upgrade on Shane Bond (in Tests)
I mean SA had terrific teams but doesn't have one cup but in a bilateral series they would be rated more highly.World Cups. Pakistan has insane raw talent but it doesn’t always translate.
I wouldn't even play him outside of WCs and tests.Bumrah will end up as a moderate upgrade on Shane Bond (in Tests)
Yes - which is why with something important on the line, I’d back an Indian ATXI to beat the living **** out of those chokers.I mean SA had terrific teams but doesn't have one cup but in a bilateral series they would be rated more highly.
We’ll seeBumrah will end up as a moderate upgrade on Shane Bond (in Tests)
TBF, for much of history, it was India that choked heroically against Pakistan, the Gavaskar 96,Chennai, Sharjah, Aaqib Javed, Saeed Anwar 194, etc.Yes - which is why with something important on the line, I’d back an Indian ATXI to beat the living **** out of those chokers.
Actual results matter. Everyone hypothetically agrees Pakistan are probably better…but India has produced more in World Cups.
Was just thinking this.Bumrah will end up as a moderate upgrade on Shane Bond (in Tests)
Plus this great current Indian side has consistently choked and failed to win an ICC trophy the past decade.TBF, for much of history, it was India that choked heroically against Pakistan, the Gavaskar 96,Chennai, Sharjah, Aaqib Javed, Saeed Anwar 194, etc.
at some point that changed but a generation of Indians (mine) ispermanently scarred. I remember in the 1996 World Cup when a Miandad was the last batsman left and a shadow of himself, people still were scared he would somehow beat us
But they have competed in both the World Test Championship Finals back to back. All in all; I actually think it's really tough right now to decide how Bumrah and Shami measures upto someone like Akram, Khan and Younis. They might never be able to match them (especially Shami); let alone surpass, but we will get a much clearer idea on the gap between the pace line-ups. Also, another thing I just wanted to add; Waqar Younis has an extremely horrible record against India (though he played only one series) especially Sehwag.Plus this great current Indian side has consistently choked and failed to win an ICC trophy the past decade.
Actually the opposite. The chokers would perform better in a bilateral series.Yes - which is why with something important on the line, I’d back an Indian ATXI to beat the living **** out of those chokers.

It's not unless you are a diehard Indian fan, and even not most Indians. Bumrah is the only one with a slim chance to be in that company if his body holds up.But they have competed in both the World Test Championship Finals back to back. I said how they measure up, not that any of them surpasses them, especially Shami. I do believe Bumrah has the potential to be in their company, but we have to look forward to how well he gets back from his injury. It's not unless you are a diehard Indian fan, and even not most Indians. Waqar never played Sehwag in tests or India in his prime.
In tests, highly possible (though I rate Bond quite highly). In ODI, he is by far one of the GOATs already.Bumrah will end up as a moderate upgrade on Shane Bond (in Tests)
Many would say the same about BondIn tests, highly possible (though I rate Bond quite highly). In ODI, he is by far one of the GOATs already.
I think his cricinfo bio sums it up perfectly in the first sentence. Many would say the same about Bond
Btw he’s already overtaken Bond easily. Bond didn’t have any match winning spells in Eng, Aus or SC. Bumrah has had great series in Aus, SA and Eng already. Also has performed well in SC in the limited matches he’s played there.Bumrah will end up as a moderate upgrade on Shane Bond (in Tests)
Yeah no mate. Bumrah is great no doubt. Then there is a massive drop off to their next pacer. Pakistan have 3 pace bowlers who are better than Bumrah. Plus Saqlain, who is no Ashwin, but he’s easily closer to him than any of India’s other pacers are to Pakistan’s.I think the gap between the Pak and Ind bowling line ups is being massively overplayed here...even in tests. While Waqar, Akram and Akhtar is clearly a superior attack to Bumrah, Kapil and Shami.. people are making out as if they will run though the Indian line up. Shami and Bumrah together have done exceedingly well in IND, SA, Aus etc in recent years. Combine that with the fact that IND possess a clearly superior batting line up with ATGs such as Gavaskar, Dravid, Sachin and Kohli in it (heck even is pretty decent as an opener... especially against Pak). It would be much closer in tests than people are making it out to be. In ODIs, it is pretty close but IND have a decent edge, especially when one factors in the 8-0 H2H record between the two. Even a wc winning Pak lost to a **** Indian team, with a 19 yr old Sachin taking the motm.
The gap in bowling isn't close I agree. But if the overall gap is as large as people make it out to be, Pak should have been dominating IND in the 80s and 90s in test matches; which simply didn't happen. Even if you argue away conditions, swinging conditions such as England would definitely benefit Pak. But the bouncy and seamy conditions of Aus and SA, would benefit IND too.Yeah no mate. Pakistan’s attack is far more lethal, its not close. India’s batting is no doubt better. But the gap in bowling is easily larger.
