imagine coming up to someone with the idea of actually doing this somewhere (like a mini-version at mcg or lords or somewhere) and you try to make a case for bradman not being on there. they'd laugh at you and tell you to get a new job because cricket analysis is not your forte

I have already said Bradman is the greatest batsman. This isn't about cricket match performances. It is about who has made the game what it is today. Who has evolved the game.

You seriously need to read up on Bradman.

... Australian icon considered by many to be the pre-eminent sportsman of all time ... One of Australia's most beloved heroes, he was revered abroad as well. When Nelson Mandela was released after 27 years in prison, his first question to an Australian visitor was, "Is Sir Donald Bradman still alive?"

They came to watch him bat, not watch him or anyone else bowl. Besides, 9 wickets in 22 tests, borderline to be a 'batting all-rounder' at test level.
2800 FC wickets strikes me as a bit more than handy part-time meds, even if we assume County Cricket back in those days was a bit like Zimbabwe reps playing domestically during the walkout -- "You're better than anyone else here, so you're damn sure batting in the top six and bowling your full quota, I don't care that you average 3.4 with the bat in ODI cricket."

Given WG makes it on here for his FC exploits, not his Test career, he's certainly worth being called a batting all-rounder.

Fair enough. I have no qualms at all about WG Grace being on the mountain with his playing career listed on the plaque beneath as a batting all-rounder in First Class.
