When was the zenith of each side?

Leaving aside rankings, when was the absolute peak of team quality for each team in terms of a single game or series in their history?

Probably some pre war period i'm missing, but would the 2010/2011 team that won in Australia and India be a good shout for england's peak?

Surely some time when England were indisputably the best team in the world would be their peak, if that ever happened. I assume it must have been the case some time before Bradman

I think the win in India wasn't really the peak of the side, it was back to the wall stuff.

In Aus 2010, that Eng win was legendary and the side seemed really really strong

It's tricky with NZ. You naturally gravitate towards some point in the mid-80's: the series win in Australia or the home series draw v WI. The truth is though that besides Hadlee, Crowe and Wright (and some solid journeymen like Chatfield, Bracewell and Smith) they were pretty ordinary looking sides. The 2022 wtc final side I think probably narrowly shades it.

I think for Pakistan it would be drawing in WI in 88. A great Imran side.

Close to that would be winning in England in 96 with a high quality side that had many greats in form.
I'd go 88-92, the sides led by Imran and Miandad, that got to use the peak bowling of Wasim and Waqar (without the 2 bickering and burdened by captaincy).

As this is by series, for England I'd say if going by standard I'd pick the 2011 home win over India, by achievement the 2005 Ashes with HMs to the 10/11 Ashes and 2022 tour of Pakistan.

Across all formats, the 16-19 one day side is best England has produced in my lifetime.

Interesting JB picks the 06/07 Aussie side. From this side of the fence, the 01 and 02/03 sides just appeared untouchable.
