Leaving aside rankings, when was the absolute peak of team quality for each team in terms of a single game or series in their history?

Wasn't the 50s side better?England - 2005 Ashes
India - 00/01 BG Trophy
I think the win in India wasn't really the peak of the side, it was back to the wall stuff.Probably some pre war period i'm missing, but would the 2010/2011 team that won in Australia and India be a good shout for england's peak?

As for India, that was their best triumph but not their peak strength as a side. I think it has to be somewhere in Dhoni or Kohli era.
For Australia I think the 2006/07 Ashes, and then the World Cup that followed. To clarify, I meant which series did they achieve their strongest as a side.
That's a good one. I think though for me it's 2011 in SA and WC 2011 for India, they were no.1 in all three formats, batting lineup at its peak, very settled side.March 14 2022 for Indian test team
I'd go 88-92, the sides led by Imran and Miandad, that got to use the peak bowling of Wasim and Waqar (without the 2 bickering and burdened by captaincy).I think for Pakistan it would be drawing in WI in 88. A great Imran side.
Close to that would be winning in England in 96 with a high quality side that had many greats in form.
