Had exactly that problem with my current bat, a Slazenger V800. I went through about 5 grips in just my first season with it.

It's a good bat for me because its really light (about 2 pd 4), and while it obviously lacks in power compared to heavier bats I don't mind; if I hit the middle if pretty much goes for 4 anyway.
