i dunno about that man.

so if i wanted to sell my bat, lets say, next year (and i hadnt used it yet, but i have...), i could sell it for like 50-100 bucks more?
Just look at prices. They're all up from last year. Explain that, given bats haven't suddenly started to be made from gold.

And your example is nonsensical; 1. you bought it last year so regardless of whether it had been used or not, it's second-hand and, most importantly 2. bats, like every product made from a consumable, cost more to make this year than they did last year. Ergo, they cost more to make. Ergo, the price goes up. The additional costs companies have to wear these days have no bearing on the worth of your bat but they do on bats made now and in the future. I'm ain't that difficult.

TC I don't think he gets what you mean.

Used to have a Slazenger V500 Classic, had a beast of a middle but a massive crack in the toe meant if you didn't middle it you broke all your fingers. :D

Don't actually have a bat now, since that one broke - I've now broken three bats in one season, two of them were a mate's which I was borrowing! Luckily he didn't pay much for them though, he imported them dirt cheap from his native Pakistan. One of them was an absolute monster though, the heaviest and most dangerous bat I've ever used - I'm not exactly a big hitter, but I hit one shot in the nets over the head of a medium-pacer which I swear would have hit the Lord's pavilion, I've never hit a ball further before or since I used that bat. In a match I leading-edged one over the head of the point fielder, it was that heavy and that powerful. A little much for me to handle really, light bats suit me better - but it was bloody good fun to use.

Heh, I have the Gray-Nicholls Titan; 3lb 5 oz of pure muscle. A bat so thick when I was marking out my guard, bowlers would think I was facing up and start their run-up. :D

Best innings with it (only substantial one, really) was my first. First four balls landed over the rope, last one clean-bowled. That was a good day!

LOL - 24(5), what an innings. I hit 47* with the monster before the rain came in the only match I used it in - it was the power that kept me at the crease, shots that would usually drop down fielders' throats were floating just out of reach above their heads. I even managed to flay a waist-high full toss on middle stump almost to the extra cover boundary, off the first ball of the match - the ball pretty much hit the handle and I still got two runs for it!

My old Slazenger was trusty, though, I can't believe it broke - it gave me my only 50! A classic innings of 71(52), 13x4 - all my boundaries were between square-leg and mid-off. :p It was also responsible for a mate of mine smashing 61 off about 40 balls in the first cricket match of his life, and hitting the two biggest sixes I've ever seen a 13-year-old hit. Shame he's barely played in the five years since, he was pretty useful.

3 pound 10 would be amazingly heavy, heavier than anything i've seen before.

Yeah, my mate gets his from Pakistan for about a quid, and he's got a couple for me too. Some of them have absolutely great middles. :D

Hunts Steelback. Long-blade, for some reason (I'm not all that tall). Pretty new, and pretty happy with it.

But the grip keeps on rolling up :@

That's a heavy bat but the Titan range had that as it's heaviest too so it's definitely been available before.

I tried one and if all you did was play in the V and through the line, no bowler would be able to get one past you. However, you can put away the hook, pull, cut, etc. Actually, just shelve all back-foot shots with a bat that heavy.
