Really? They had to chase like 200 runs, heck Pak even declared.
That Melbourne scorecard though is making me very angry and from this instance I rate Viv>Sunny.
That Pakistan one will make you angrier if you go through the whole series. Four horrible drawn tests in a row and then with a chance to try and win the series they do that lmao. It's just depressing to read those scorecards. Thank **** there seems to be no real footage of those series. Must've been purged.

Also Viv > Gavaskar is pretty clear , shouldnt take this innings for your oponion to swing.

I have stated time and time again that I don't think it is really clear between them. I think they are pretty close and have pretty comparable records in similar era. But yeah, that innings swung my opinion in favor of Viv, though I still think they were pretty close.

They had how long in hand though? Chasing 258 in 4th innings definitely sounds a tough ask, especially given Pakistan declared.

Paul Collingwood got nicknamed Brigadier Block as he batted ages in 3 draws we got in 09 and the following winter I South Africa. 9 down on 3 occasions and Drew them all.

Willie Watson's 109 at Lord's in 1953 surely deserves a mention.

Came in at 12 for 3 before the end of Day 4 and batted most of Day 5 to all but secure the draw. And Australia's attack doesn't look the worst.

Other than that, Ponting at Old Trafford in 2005 of course.

32 overs, so thats a run rate of 8.06. Its not very feasible tbh. Only one innings with over 10 overs bowled has a run rate that high - Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 2015, 92/0 off 11.2 overs. Australia actually did put up a decent run total in exactly 32 overs with 241/2d in the third innings vs Pakistan in 2017.

Most of these fast scoring innings have been in the last decade.

Yeah, if it was 32 overs, I don't think it really was much feasible, especially given the era. Pakistan declared when they had saved themselves from a defeat confidently. Don't get why OS brought that up really......

It's an absolute scandal that nobody has mentioned Amiss's unbeaten 262 in this match, after England had conceded a first innings deficit of 230.

What tends to be forgotten is that he almost did this in the previous test, making 174 until his dismissal sparked a massive collapse that allowed WI to win the game easily. Second time around, he must have decided to make absolutely sure that he did the job himself as he couldn't trust the rest of them to stick around.

EDIT
Looking at the scorecard, WI used 10 bowlers in that England innings and, as Amiss opened, there must be a decent chance that he faced all 10 of them.

Oh wait @capt_Luffy ,i linked the wrong game. The actual bad one was the 4th Test from that same cursed series where India needed 126 in 20 odd overs. They managed 23-1.

Bunch of ****ing wimps. Glad I wasn't around to watch this shite.

Yeah, I was really confused by that scorecard. This **** makes so much sense. This kind of dim witted tom foolery and lack of a ****ing backbone make me really respect Tiger Pataudi. Of course he couldn't turn things over as much as Virat, or even Ganguly; but atleast he did something.....
