What if?...

My head would hurt and the game would be unrecognizeble.

What if the 90 over minimum per day had been in place during the hey day of the Lloyd/Richards Windies team?
It was. In 1984 I left Lords at 7:40pm on one occasion.

What if Buddy Holly had called his group The Beetles?
Rephrase the question - what if the minimum overs req. had been strictly enforced in those days.

He'd have averaged in the high 20s and been dropped over a dozen times.

What if: Australia had never been federated and its states all played test cricket?
Yeah, think WA should gain independence for the cricket matches alone.

Roger Harper would have played 60-odd Tests and WI would still have won buckets.

What if persistent rain had fallen in Manchester on 31 July 1956?

Laker would be considered a fine but not great bowling and Massie and Lohmann would be top of the tree

What if Test cricket remained at 3 days duration?

Most series would either finish 0-0 or 1-0.

What if: Clarrie Grimmett did not move to Australia but stayed in New Zealand instead?

Would have played a few Tests against England, and would be remembered as good bowler:)

What if WKs were not allowed to wear gloves?

There wouldn't be a wicket keeper per say. A fielder would stand about 10 metres off the boundary behind the wicket. Unless some players had some serious pain thresholds.

What if entertainment value was the only criteria for selection?

Lawry would never have played Test cricket

What if the Beamer was part of a fast bowlers game?

Batsmen would be outfitted like the goalkeepers in field hockey.

What if selectors around the world adopted a strict policy of requiring test batsmen to make a half century every 5 innings, or get dropped for two series'?

The chirping from the fielding team while the struggling batsman was batting in last chance saloon would be something to hear.

What if there were no CW? Where would you spend your cricket/internet time?

My life would infinitely more productive and Id have more conversations with the wife.

What if the stumps were retractable at the bowlers end and they could bowl each ball at any of the full width of the crease?
