I think he's pretty darned close.

See my ladder. I'd have him in the squad, but I don't know how often he would play. He's basically in the same boat as Bravo. Both would probably get into the team on bowling alone, but the batting is still a question. I'd say Bravo > Kelly in terms of scoring runs, but Kelly scores them much quicker in general and can develop into a devastating lower order player.

If it came to down to picking Bravo or Kelly, it would still have to be Bravo if he's fit to bowl. In terms of picking Kelly as a specialist bowler, that would be harsh on Collymore/Collins/Bradshaw if he were picked ahead of any of them.

It's not a bad problem to have, granted.

Some would have Emrit in aswell.
Reyad Emrit may not ever play for the West Indies team, but his work ethic is superb. Very much unassuming and just quietly gets on with the job. The improvements in his batting have been very pleasant, and his bowling has always been steady and effective. I don't think he'll make the WC squad though, even if he does feature for the senior side against Zimbabwe. It won't surprise me if he does play Zim though - a total contradiction to my first statement. Alas, that's the WI selectors for ya.

Hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by digging this old thread, but didnt want to start a new one because I'm not sure if theres enough interest.

The 50 over tournament starts tomorrow and the big six will be joined by Combined Campus, West Indies B and the US and Canada. I wish they had found a way to include Bermuda, too, like the good old days, but I've always been appreciative of the way WICB and CSA try to help the Associate nations by including them in the domestic comps. I dont care if its simply posturing or their motives in the long run are rather materialistic in nature, if we had more nations doing the same thing we'd all be better off

Squads (except US) and schedule here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018–19_Regional_Super50

Most of the windies big names seem to be here rather than at the APL! I dont think Ali Khan will be able to play here though, given his APL contract, which is a shame given how well he did in the CPL. I suppose the Associates can consider it to be a success if they win more than a game here?

On a related note, does anyone know if Chanderpaul Sr. is planning to carry on playing or if he is done?

Former SA and Warriors player , Davy Jacobs , selected as Canada captain.

How do they decide the B Team & The Colleges/Campus squads ?

Chsnderpaul disapperaed from the lancs team halfway through the season after only averaging about 25/30
But last year he averages about 50 in England I think

He went and played for their Second XI and plundered runs for them instead, haha.

It almost feels at this point as if he'll still be playing for whichever side he can get into at eighty years old and surprising everyone by averaging 55 for them.

Would be all kinds of awesome if he could score a ton or two. I dont think anyone of his age has scored an FC ton for a loooooong time

Thanks @ SeamUp for the heads up! I saw David Jacobs and didnt realise it was him. A bit strange to give him the captaincy straightaway isnt it? Unless Nitish Kumar was looking to get rid of it

The US team has (yet another) new captain too - Khaleel sacked, Netravalkar named captain for USA's Super50 squad - ESPNcricinfo

I'm wondering if they'll try to get Cameron Steel or Ian Holland to play for them in WCL Division 3 in Oman. We still have no idea about what the WCL structure will be for the next cycle but the Oman tournament could be massive if the ICC decide that the Dutch wont play any part in the WCL because of the ODI league thing. That'll open up an extra place in the Division One tournament (which should go to the Div 3 winner) and given how keen the ICC have been to push US cricket, they could suddenly find themselves having ODI status!

Or maybe theyll scrap it all and create something new?

Devon Smith makes a century against Canada. Dissapointing how he continues to make domestic runs despite being proven to fall well short of international standard.
