Cricketer Of The Year
England has an awesome record over the last 2-3 years too though. Up until Oct last year everyone thought Australia was on par with the other top 3 and it was a four way race to the top. England completely annihilated them away from home. England's batting records are ****ing immense over the last 2 years as well along with having arguably the best bowling attack in the world. Anyway you look at it, England has been an outrageously good team over the last two years.

Can India come close to replicating later this year in Oz what England did in the Ashes? I don't think so.

England to win the coming series 3-1 or 2-0, IMO.
Quoting for epic pwnage after the series...
Indeed, my Bun, indeed.

I submit this one, although I suspect it's one GF had in mind:

Ok. Let me try to understand this, England who conceded 400 to SL in the early part of the summer will roll over India eh? funny some of them saying 3-0.

Sri Lankans are supposedly a weak batting unit compared to India and less said about the bowling the better. Yes the last session in Cardiff was just freak. The whole premise is based on England beating a weakend Aussie side and SL in the first Test. They did not even manage to beat SA in SA.

An rejuvanated Indian side with Tendulkar, Sewag and Gambhir coming back and the bowlers if they select the right combo will beat England in England and this is during the latter part of the summer where India have historically done well. I will say 2-1 for India or a 1-1 result. It's highly unlikely India will lose this series.

Haha, actually it was a different one that Furball had in mind, I'll get that sorted in a min actually

What I find funny in that post (aside from everything) is that it references we couldn't even beat SA in SA even though India had just got the same score there that we did!

gvenkat's posting about the India vs. England series was genuinely incredibly arrogant. Would be a worthy winner.

Unfortunately Jono will have no nominations but we can all sit happy knowing he got splinters in his arse

From GF via GIMH, this is starting to get complicated TSTL:

Another of gvenkat:

The fact of the matter is England can't bat spin bowlers to save their lives. They will be eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner alive by the Indian spinners if the series were to happen in India.

If England claim they are better at fast bowling than India, Look what happened to South Africa in Durban. Any day of the week Zak, Sreesanth and Ishant are better than the English bowlers. Of Course Sree needs to get his head examined. That is a different Issue altogether.

And Darren Gough has a big mouth and he runs it like a madman. England will be beaten to pulp in India and India would be hard to beat in English conditions. Gough can put that in his pipe and smoke.

That is what I meant to say when I said England have not beaten India Since 1996 at home and 1984 away.
And Shri came up with a superb prediction here:

Ishant to do better than Broad with the ball in this series. Calling it before anyone else.

Incidentally for his bravado etc., I think deep down gvenkat knew India would lose, as shown by this in the avatar bets thread:

I think 6 monts is a lot bro. Let's shoot for a month or so.

Hardly saw you predict a thing, aside from some anti-jinxing. You're a wise man/coward (delete as appropriate)

So does King Julian's count or was it just trolling (which imo it was)
Would that mean Bun's still count:ph34r:

If so, he get's it for me, it's not just the fact he fanboyed India, plenty of them for all sides around here, but that the only Indian he slated was Dravid:)

haha.........the Dravid prediction was so funny......Bun's been banned I don't know for how long though

Make sure you let us know if there's one you really like as we'll take this into account when doing the shortlist. This is serious business.

Some more contenders

sree is better than broad and so is ishant.
It's hard to defend the Indian seamers, it really is, but sometimes it's made out on here as if the Timbuktu Under 12s team have better options going than what we do.

As for the question of this thread, Broad certainly wouldn't walk in over any of our alternatives, and anyone who can't see that is being a bit deluded IMO.
Sree > Broad > Ishant IMO. Although I rate Sree a lot higher than most people.

tbf most Englishmen here weren't exactly resolute in their defence of Broad before, well, that incredible spell of four or five overs at the middle order after lunch on Day 3 at Lord's.

Yeah, think I said in the OP you would probably be able to find England fans dissing Broad and nominate it
