The article does not give a direct connection between the two though.

They have to rely on the broadcasters and the replays they show in any case ,as happened in the world cup though the decision was not affected there. The ICC technical official is not there to select frames and replay but to oversee it and ensure their is no dodginess in terms of implementation ,which is alleged he can't do more than a certain extent as per terms of the licensing agreements.

If it was a excuse the ICC would have mentioned it clearly and how the official would have affected it ,because 2 failed at the world cup.

Another great CW thread.

First people proving repeatedly that caps lock is not required to scream at the top one's voice. And now this.

As this series is not operating the Decision Review System (DRS), the enhanced DRS standards and ICC technical official were not in place as would have been the case.
The worst part is that the same mistake was made in the World Cup too and a couple of media channels picked up upon that to as the non strike batsman was in different positions with bat in seperate hands in each replay.

And in the world cup there were 2 technical officials IIRC . It all comes down to the broadcaster and don't think the technical official is responsible for selecting each replay directly but only to oversee it...

Now i remember the same happened in the IPL too ,where Sachin was given out due to a wrong replay.

Becoming a recurring issue this -

Here is the Video -
YouTube - ‪Sachin Tendulkar - No Ball Controversy against Deccan Chargers‬‏

Let's see if i can find the world cup one too. That did not come into the limelight so much because it was some minnow match IIRC and did not result in a wrong decision.
Was certainly picked up by a couple of media channels though.

Hey don't blame the ICC if Indian broadcasters are **** and can't even replay properly. jeeez. Not everything is the ICC's fault y'know?!

ps everyone knows you don't get two technical officials to police the URDS. They cancel each other out

Eh?

This was done by the West Indian broadcasters (infact IMG who are a MNC).

And the world cup was under ICC guidelines with UDRS and officials and covered by the Broadcasters who ICC sold the rights too under the ICC agreement.

What i was referring to was that it can be a problems with replays needed at such short notice from a particular angle..

Edit - Or are you Kidding?:p

How did the story about the wrong ball getting replayed get out anyway?

I'm seriously considering editing it tbh. Every time I have to scroll past it makes me more inclined.

Like, really, not needed. There are ways to make a point without breaking the thread like so.

Good to see we're all a mature bunch of bananas.

There might be further consequences from this. And an optometrist's bill.
