Cricketer Of The Year
Might be time to scrunch this thread up and throw it in the bin with the rest of the wastemen threads.

Honestly slippy, do you even bother browsing the forum before you start threads?

I think the CW consensus is that if Pakistan had decent slip fielders, Wasim would have taken 18,437 test wickets at 0.0076 apiece.

Where would you guys rank him up there with the all time great bowlers.

One of the greatest bowlers of all time. Just below the following bowlers and in the same group as Imran, Lillee, Waqar and Holding. I have not included bowlers before 1970s.

Marshall
Hadlee
Mcgrath
Ambrose
Steyn
Garner
Donald

It's interesting how your perception is shaded by whatever sample size you see, isn't it? We didn't really see a great deal of peak Waqar here, so I tend to rate Wasim higher despite Waqar's insane peak. First I recall seeing either of them was in 89/90 and Wasim had a huge tour. Think he made a big ton in Adelaide and bowled some crazy fast spells. Waqar was a bit younger I think, and hadn't reached his peak, and I think he was a bit busted when he next bowled here and wasn't the player he had been pre-injury.

If Bichel played for any other country he'd have batted 3, made 10,000 Test runs @ 55 and taken 984 wickets @ 13

far superior to Wasim's Test stats. Can't argue with maths. Another emphatic win for Australian Miyagis
