Dale Steyn played in arguably the toughest time for fast bowlers in recent time.

I was saying Allan Donald was just as good as anyone but tends to be forgotten.

Donald has pretty figures in SC but he didn't actually win any games. Steyn did against all countries.

Donald was overall disappointing against Australia his best opponent. Steyn was not.

It's neck and neck now.

Akram a great fast bowler and more than handy number eight batsman.

Would you say he could have done more to win those games or was team support culpable?

Looks more like what the teams averaged in matches involving those players. Wouldn’t call that a useful metric for what you’re trying to argue.

Anyone who actually saw Kallis bat would know he is amongst a handful of batsmen that qualify to be second to the GOAT. To definitely say any one batsman is better than him is pointless pedantry. The same could apply to Hobbs, Tendulkar, Sobers, Richards, Lara, Smith, Hutton etc

Much better

Anyone who actually saw Chris Woakes play would know he is amongst a handful of players the only player that qualifies to be the undisputed GOAT. To even suggestively say any one player is better than him is pointless pedantry blasphemy of the highest order. The same could NOT apply to Bradman, Grace, Sobers, Imran, Hadlee, Tendulkar, Hobbs, Marshall etc

Pollock outshined him in Pak and Ind.
I don’t think being outshone by a teammate should negatively affect him.

Donald only played whilst Pollock was in his peak (a very underrated peak btw) and he’s a fellow ATG batsman.

McGrath outperformed Warne in England but iirc we don’t take that away from Warne’s record.

Warne still won many games in England. My point was that Donald didn't.

His point was that Donald could have done more which was exemplified by Pollock. Generally not a fan of match results having an impact on individual assessments though.

My point is that Donald in the SC is more of smash and grab performances while Steyn outright won games in India, Pakistan and SL. The latter obviously more important.
