Was WI ATG team overhyped?

Sadly to many of us here, your downplaying of ATG WI's prowess seems baffling. But lets just agree to disagree.
“i dont think the pace quartet alone can win a test series in India against atg India”

subs: you’re insulting the pace quartet, the atgs with your biased takes!!! how dare you insult atgs like that!!!

I just want to see your reasoning behind your thought train, nothing else
I already gave you. But given you saying an ATG WI can't be mentally conceived of winning in India means a discussion is pointless.

And no touring team pre 2012 have faced a decent, well balanced Indian bowling attack; ever. We didn't lose the 83 series because our batsmen failed us, but because we had ****ty bowling.
Read those losing scorecards to see how the batting did.

You literally used the 83 tour as the basis. The only batsman making into the ATG India team from that side was the highest scorer of that series, and Vengsarkar did pretty well himself. I am not saying "ATG WI can't win in India", I am saying claiming they will start as favourites needs some backing.

They haven't faced a pace attack of the quality of 80s WI, Donald/Pollock and McGrath/Gillespie so we don't know how they would do.
Indian conditions when most teams tour just don't suit fast bowlers now though. Australia dropped Josh Hazlewood for Kuhnemann and Todd Murphy . . . Steve O'Keefe was more of a danger than Pat Cummins or Starc lol.

Given we have Kapil and Kumble doing some heavy lifting for our bowling attack as well.
this is what subs is conveniently ignoring since he wants the Indian fans to point this out and then talk about how Jadeja and Ashwin make a big difference

then he can weasel into the convo to continue dissing on those duo like always and if told that its what he always does he can turn around and point out that “but i didnt talk about them you see, it was those pesky biased Indian fans”

That's a fair point but those arent top drawer pacers (except for Cummins who had certain circumstances). Bumrah and Shami themselves have done well generally. However, for an ATG game we would need to cite the pitches.

Wait then why do you bring up Bumrah to me if pacers are a non issue?
